The Gentle Art
of Making Enemies
'on-line' Index
Welcome to the Home Page for The Gentle Art of Making Enemies
(GAME), a games 'zine in the UK.
These pages started life as a means to stick just a small section of
each issue of GAME. After about six months of inactivity, when I did not
get the time to update these pages, I've changed my policy - trying to
extract a meaningful section was not always that easy, and ideally I wanted
to give a complete electronic version. The easiest way (for me) would have
been to put the postscript files on-line (as I use a PS printer), however
most people cannot 'read' postscript, so I've started producing them as
Adobe PDF files. The end file size is
anywhere between 200-500K depending on the number of images that issue
has. So Web space limitations probably mean I cannot have that many issues
online (as PDF), but we'll see.
Now maybe you have stumbled across this page by accident or have followed
a link, and are unsure what you've found. Well I have now provided an additional
page "about GAME" that tells you about the
'zine, what games are on offer, the cost, and other stuff. To find out
follow the link.

Summary:
The development of GAME now looks to non-diplomacy games.
The cycling game Breaking Away rules are included and a list
for this six player game is open. Each player controls a team of four cyclists
round three laps on a 40 square circuit. Each cyclist has a set of numbered
cards which they each play one per turn to move. The cards are replenished
according to their relative position to the rest of the pack.
All reader games are another development. Games to help you distract
yourself from the Diplomacy game you have been stabbed in, or something
to play if you are one of my non-Diplomacy readers. Also Board Game reviews
will be included - there are a lot of good games you may not see in the
local shops, and so I hope to bring you reviews of them each issue. |
Summary:
GAME goes monthly.... I decided to make GAME a monthly zine of 16-20
pages rather than
my original one of a bimonthly 30+ page zine with a games only flyer
in between. |
Summary:
In issue one comes the exciting review of Diplomacy 2000 the
new immersive VR computer console game that allows people to play over
the internet in 3D!
A regular column in G.A.M.E. will be the treasure chest, a selection
of free games to photocopy, cut and play. Here I preview a few to come.
Also there is a 4 page letter column, house rules, Silent Runing (variant)
rules, and a freebie orders form to make your playing of postal Diplomacy
easier for both player and GM. |

The flyer that was sent out to announce the 'new' zine was starting. |
