This is my page of things that don't suck. It's just a collection of LINKS to what I think is cool...especially on the web.
You are visitor number:to brave the elements!
The software that I regard as the best has to have me, Joe Normal Dude, in mind. I hate nothing more than getting software that is way to complex (like Hot Dog Pro, I'd rather use notepad). Kick Ass software has to let me be a master immediately or its garbage.
First, the essentials for surfing and internet enjoyment:
Netscape Communicator: The ONLY way to surf.
: Don't forget this. No surfing experience is complete without it!
Crescendo: Streaming (???Marginal, at best), MIDI Player.
Cool news accessory. Easily modified and includes screen saver.
ICQ: The best internet communication accessory (I'm at 1573408).
OK, We're ready to surf. But where? How about a search engine. I don't want a cheesy advertising bulletin board. I want a search tool with some balls. It's either got to have a massive data base or a fantastic directory. Here are my favorites:
Only because it has a fantastic directory.
Open Text Index: Power Search is easy to use and zeroes in on stuff, fast.
Alta-Vista: Humungous, Do you like sorting through 200,000 documents?
Excite Search: Excellent desktop search engine without the cheese.
Apollo: World Wide search engine in England. From a British point of view.
After searching the net for a while and seeing some good and some not-so good sites, you decide to build your own. That's what i did. Again, not being a programmer, i needed something easy and powerful yet ready for me to exploit. Unless you know what your doing, experimenting with everything can be frustrating. The best publishing tools are:
Claris Home Page (30-day demo): Awesome program, real easy to figure out.
Lview Pro: Easily convert images to different formats.
Paint Shop Pro: Difficult, but the price is right.
Microsoft GIF Animator: Good for MANIPULATING EXISTING GIF animation's.
GIF Construction Set: Very easy to use GIF animator. Has a wizard that smokes!

Okay, you've got this great page where do you put it:
GeoCities: A good place to start. (2MB)
Tripod: Not as slow as GeoCities but about the same. (2MB)
Fortune City: Fast, even though it's located in England. This is the one!!! (6MB)
Holy Cow! Where do I get all of this stuff?
