Parks And Recreation
El Paso Parks and Recreation has a mission and that mission is: do fun better than anyone else, provide recreational and leisure-time services to the entire population from infants to seniors, administer, preserve, maintain, and constantly strive to improve the environmental and physical features of City parks, public grounds and facilities for the benefit of us all. They have fun activities whether you are 1 year old or 100 years old. Whether you're interested in swimming, playing sports, learning something new, or just looking for a nice place to spend some time out-of-doors. The El Paso Parks & Recreation Department runs a number of special events throughout the year. Some of these activities are Thanksgiving, the Annual Christmas in Light ceremony that takes place at the San Jacinto Plaza downtown, and the Annual Festival of Lights.

Some of the facilities that El Paso Parks and Recreation has to maintain are fourteen aquatics facilities (six indoor pool--open year-round, eight outdoor pools open May-September), nine Recreation Centers, nine Senior Centers, three Community Centers, the Multipurpose Center, and Yvan Rechey and Tony Ponce Gyms, and sports league programming. All this facilities are open to everybody. You can have pool party you can rent a shelter or all of one of our many parks or any of our facilities for your next party or gathering.

STUDENTS
One of the biggest problems of El Paso is that people don't stay to go to the university or to work. Some of the reasons that people give are: El Paso is boring and Austin is a great place to have fun, plus they have one of the biggest universities in the United States, The University of Texas at Austin. Another reason is that the work class doesn?t get paid a lot so we have to go to other places to get paid more. Personally I think that the high school student leave because they want a new place to live, they want a change in their lives. I came to El Paso three years ago because I wanted to change the same routine that I used to have in Puerto Rico.

El Paso has a lot of interest thing that the people that live here don?t see. For example El Paso is recognized as one of the most economical destinations for visitors and businesses alike. It is the center of the ?Maquiladoras? and the gateway to Juarez, Mexico, and southern New Mexico. It has a lot of recognized attractions as Fort Bliss, Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands National Memorial and there are excellent sporting events and festivals year-round.

The main thing that brings people to the Sun City is The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) founded in 1913 as the Texas State School of Mines and Metallurgy, a branch of the University of Texas at Austin. Today, UTEP is the second oldest academic component of the 14 institutions that make up the University of Texas System. The 366-acre campus enrolls an average of 17,000 students per academic year. No matter that UTEP bring student to El Paso they leave as soon as they graduate because they don?t get paid a lot. Another reason because students leave is that they don?t have anything to do. One thing that El Paso need to keep the student is a better college life. Personally we need more activities so the students enjoy their stay here. If we make it fun for the people that come from other countries they will think it twice if they are going to stay or leave. With more people that we keep here the paid rate will get better and we will have more stuff to do.
