#BALTO'S-BOAT
An irc chatroom for Balto fans!

Inspired by Balto's home in the movie (an old fishing trawler), Balto's-boat is a place for TRUE Balto fans to chat. Created by Cyberwulfe (ME!) and Razor Wolf, on DAL.net, this chatroom is open for ALL who wish to come and chat! Balto's BOAT is also the NEW name for my Balto Section!

What goes on in Balto's-boat?

Friendly chat, usually any topic or whatever is on your mind.

Trivia: We have done trivia only three times since the room's first appearance. Usually there are only a few people in the room, which makes trivia kind of pointless.

Chatting about the movie: Want to mention your favorite part? Go ahead! The room usually only has about two people in the room. We just chat about ourselves and what is going on in life, and we hope that a Balto fan will drop in and start a conversation about Balto!

What's the topic? Who runs the room?

Since it is a chatroom about Balto, the topic is always Balto. Anyone who comes in and tries to crash the room with rude comments, no interest in the movie at all, or pornography invites will be kicked from the room. If you return, without apologizing and/or joining the discussion, you will be banned, outright.

Ops represents the channel Operators. All Ops are regognized by a "@" symbol in front of their name (ie: @Cyberwulfe). That is the sign of power in the room. Don't try to tick these guys off. They could kick you for no reason at all, but they usually give warnings ahead of time, so please worship the Ops! (Just kidding, but please show some respect!)

Basically, any rude/bad comments about Balto, any dissin' the dog, pounding the pooch, wrestling the wolf-dog, or smacking the chien will result in you being kicked. Return without apology and/or actually joining the discussion will result in being kicked again and/or banned.

How do I use mIRC, and then get to the Boat once I'm online?

For a .txt file of how to use mIRC (for those just starting out), please e-mail me and I will be glad to give it to you. It tells you the basics about chatting, as well as some more difficult stuff. I will be upgrading it as often as time allows/is necessary, so I will probably tell you when the new version of the file is available. It is also available in .wpd, .doc, and .htm (HTML Document) format. Please specify your preference in your request.

mIRC HELP V2.O NOW AVAILABLE!

PS: I'm now working on new versions of the .txt file. I'm also thinking of making a .zip file with a bunch of .htm files and turn the manual into a small website for you to view in your Internet browser.

For a quick guide on how guide to get to "The Boat", please look below:

1) Get on irc. You need to connect to a DAL.net server (spider.ca.us.dal.net OR stlouis.mo.us.dal.net) in order to visit the Boat.
2) Join channel
#balto's-boat (mIRC is case sensitive).
3) Have fun! If no one is there, re-check the schedule and/or check your timezone.

When can I chat?

Balto's-boat is used mostly at night. Since I have school and homework, as well as other obligations, I cannot use it as much as I would like. As soon as school is over I will chat every night. However, if you follow the current schedule I'm sure you'll find some Balto fans like yourself who will be very eager to chat with you!

Monday, Thursday, and Friday nights, starting at 9:45pm EST (Eastern Standard Time).

Central Time Zone: 8:45pm

Mountain Time: 7:45pm

Pacific: 6:45pm

Malaysia: 9:45am (next day)

France: 3:45am (next day)

Australia: 10:45am (next day)

I have chatted with people from these states/countries. I hope the times are accurate. I will talk to them and then change it if it needs to be changed. Just make sure you check your timezone as well as the time in your home before you join. This is just the time when I chat, and since the other chatters know I will be there at those times the room is usually empty at any times other than those.

I hope that we can get more fans into the room. The biggest group ever was 12 people, and I'd love to have as many as 15-20 people there. Anyway, just e-mail me for more details. I will update this page if anything neat is happening in the room (ie: Trivia Night, even though CAnIs^LuPus hates trivia!).
