I stumbled upon a scene of beauty
and recognized the place.
A place of dreams deep in the soul
a picture of beauty and grace.

Not my dreams, but dreams the same
that belong to a special one
Whom I have failed, not seeing inside
her dreams of a setting sun.

Radiant beams spread across the water
reflections of an eternal soul
That longed to see this heavenly place
its wonder to behold.

But I was blind and could not see
the thing she needed most,
Was her need for me to express my love
and take her to the coast.

A vacation spot for just us two
to take in the simple things
And remember the love when we began
and the joy that it did bring.

A quiet walk along the beach
while simply holding hands
Would have placed within her heart the world
and the richness of all the lands.

But even this could have been forgone
if I had done my part
To have taken her to a more special place--
to the coast within her heart.
