The
Chateau de BlackKnight
(The
Doomsday Castle)
The château
de Black Knight, Doomsday Castle, a fortified dwelling, built to dominate
and guard my region, my kingdom. The term CASTLE is derives from the Roman
CASTELLUM (Fort or Frontier Stronghold). In Western Europe, most of the
extant castles were built between 1000 and 1500, often on artificial mould,
with a palisaded courtyard. Later, the stockade was replaced by masonry
keeps, or dungeon, defensive outer walls, and frequently a moator downbridge.
With decline of feudalism, the castle evolved into the Renaissance chateau,
with its emphasis on splendor rather than on fortifications. But one castle
remain unchanged. The Doomsday Castle or known as the Chateau de Black
Knight, built in 963 B.C. by the Knights of the Round Table, during the
Crusades. This castle is a scribed to an Italian architect, Domenico de
Cortono. .Its plan remains essentially that of amedieval concentric castle,
a dungeon, surrounded on three sided by a courtine with massive conical
towers, known as the Twin Peaks, its faced aligned with that of the courtine.
The arms of dungeon form a greek cross and lead from the entrance to a
doubles piral staircase connecting all floors. Corner suites of rooms an
italian innovations, form appartements. The earliest french instance of
what be came the regular domestic arrangement for two centuries. The Vertical
and ornate outline is basically French, clad in Italian decorative details.
And the Owner of the Chateau de Black Knight, " Sir Dophino Nitesoul ",
is the Last Knights that walks on the face of the earth. I am the one and
only sole surviving legendary Knight of the next Millenium. And I welcome
you into my humble home, the Doomsday Castle.. The dwellers in my castle,
both, good and evil, are indeed very happy to be your host.
Knights and Knighthood
Part of the feudal system of the Middle Ages in Western Europe. Knights were mounted and armed sworn defenders of a feudal superior, generally having previously served as page or squire. Chivalry was the code of honor practised by knights. They were known by their clothing, shining armor and participation in tournaments in which they fought each other. The Legend king Arthur is the most famous literary account of Knighthood.
Feudalism
A System of
Social, economic and political relationships that shaped society in medieval
Europe. it originated in the 6th century and flourished from the10th to
the 13th centuries. The system, rested on the obedience and service of
a vassal to his Lord in return of protection, maintenance and most particularly,
a tenancy of land (afief). The duty owed by avassal included military ervice,
counsel and attendance at court, and contribution towards the Lord's extraordinary
expenditures, such as ransom, or dowries. At the apex of the social pyramid
was the King, vassal ONLY to GOD. His vassals were his great nobles, holding
land, or other source of income in fief from him. They in turn invested
or enfeoffed, their own vassals, the Lords of the manors (seigneurs or
suzerains). At the base of the pyramid were the serfsorvilleins, permanently
tied to the land. They worked both for the lord and for themselves, unpaid.
Serfdom offered a degree of security in that if a serf could not leave
the land, neither could the land be taken from him. in effect feudalism
tended to allow vassall or dsunre stricted freedom, at least in their own
holdings. With the tendency towards centralised government this liberty
was curbed.The system assumed a sub sistence economy, the growth of trade
and of economically powerful towns attacked. By the 15th century the system
was dying out, although many feudal institute persited in to the 19th century.
