Hi there! My name is Michael Briggs and this page is part of my coursework for the Images and Information module from the second semester of the first year of the Electronic Imaging and Media Communications Bsc Degree Course at Bradford University. "If you've got five seconds to spare, then I'll tell you the story of my life "As a mature student, I'm probably one of the oldest on the course. Before coming to Bradford I worked for eight years as a computer programmer, developing in Informix 4GL and SQL, MS Access and BASIC on a variety of operating systems including UNIX, XENIX, DX10 and Windows NT. My last major project involved setting up a Prison Management System for a new private prison in Fazakerley, run by Group4. I was personally responsible for the Admissions and the Visit Order systems.
Programming is ok, but can be very tedious and boring. It was for this reason that I decided to take three years out from my career to concentrate on the EIMC course. One of the attractions of the course is the diversity of the modules. When I graduate, I believe the many disciplines I've tasted will help guide my career into new fields, without moving too far away from computers.
I left school at 16 and since then have attended several night classes. It has always been a goal of mine to get a degree.
