Faces of Fire
Angola
Marching Hornets
Last year, 1998,
we defended our title as State Champions. Although this
isn't what we were striving for, we succeeded in doing so. Our
band is in constant pursuit of excellence and even though we will
never get there it is a goal that has kept us on our toes and
doing our best. This year had its hardships like any other year,
however we were able to come out victorious in all means.
This show was about
the different Faces of Fire. There were two parts...niether of
them being nice flowing chords. The field was backed with a wall
of fire and then there were also 5 walls spaced on the part of
the field where we marched. The guard wore bright orange uniforms
that had cloth flying from them that made them look like dancing
fire. It was a very neat aspect. We also had special effects at
the beginning and end. In the beginning a lever on the podium
created the effect of the guard girl starting on top going down
and being replaced with the drum major...it was awesome. At the
end this was done again (except in opposite order) and also on
the field a guard girl was lifted 15 feet in the air with a wingspan
thing (see picture). It was very moving.
Here are some pictures
from throughout the year...Enjoy!
