Born in Seatle on November the 27, 1942,
Jimi Hendrix was destined for greatness.
In the 1950's, Jimi's parents divorced and his dad, Al, raised him.
At a young age, he took a liking to his father's music collection.
He loved the "classic blues and Jazz" his father owned.
Durning his teen years, Jimi loved the Rock and Roll and R&B.
Noticing his sons love for music, Al, promptly bought him a guitar.
Jimi loved it so much and became so good he was able to play in some local bands.
It wasn't until 1966 that Jimi had his big break.
So he had played with other bands such as
Little Richard, Isley Brothers, and Sam Cooke, but this is
when he formed his own band, The Jimi Henrix Expierence.
The first song they sang was Hey Joe.
In the summer of 1967 they released the album: "Are you expeirenced"
which took the number 2 position in the
British charts just behind the Beatles' Seargent Peppers
lonely Hearts Club Band album. Jimi played many concerts
in this time but his most celebrated concert
would have to be at woodstock where he played
the famous Star-Spangled Banner. On 17 Sptember 1970,
Jimi Hendrix died of a suffication from an overdose of sleeping pills.
He was staying with his girlfriend at the time, Monika Dannemann.
