St.-Émilion
Official Classification of 1955
The vineyards surrounding the town of St.-Émilion were not classified in 1855, but they were exactly 100 years later, in 1955, to establish a classification comparable to that of the Médoc. Although Château Ausone and Château Cheval-Blanc are considered the two outstanding vineyards, they share the designation "first great growth" with the 10 other vineyards. The grands crus list includes only the vineyards available in world capitals.
