The following food storage plan is for those of us on a budget. By adding only $5.00 a week to your grocery bill (for 2 people, $10.00 for 4 people, etc.) in 1 years time you will have food storage for 1 year. Now this is by no means caviar and Perrier but it will keep you alive.

After 1 year you will have acquired the following:

To make this complete add 2 lbs of dried yeast and 6 lb. of shortening for each two people. If at then the end of the year you really want to go whole hog buy another 200 lbs of powdered milk.

While it is boring the above list will keep two adults alive for 1 year.

The rules are simple. Each week set aside $5.00 for your food storage (more $$$ for more people) Any extra money left over from the $5.00 put in a kitty for future weeks. Follow the plan diligently and set the change and you will make it.

Here are the two rules that you must follow:

Rule 1. DO NOT eat any of the food from your storage unless it has been properly rotated and immediately replaced

Rule 2. DO NOT steal from the kitty.... even if your kid is plying the lead in the school play and you don't have the $.25 admission....... Remember if you steal from the kitty you STARVE !
