N2Sound - Nascar2 Sound setup program

I threw this together really quick because I noticed that because of VESA problems some people couldn't get into the sound setup even though they can get into the game. And we all know that it's only half a game without the sound.
There is a help button in the program but I'll put that info here just in case someone actually reads the README things.

If you know what your card is then go ahead and select the card from the list and then select it's settings (Address, IRQ, and DMA). If you don't know what your sound card should be or you don't see your card in there then follow the below steps and they should get you all setup. Most cards will default to a Sound Blaster setting. Companies do that to make sure you'll always be able to use their card with a game.

First go to START, then PROGRAMS, and then click on MS-DOS PROMPT. When you see the prompt type in SET and hit ENTER. This will bring up a bunch of text on the screen. You're looking for the line that starts with BLASTER =. It'll look something like this:

BLASTER = A220 I5 D1.... (There maybe more numbers and letters, ignore them.)

Your numbers are going to be different most likely. So write down the numbers and then type EXIT and hit enter. This will take you back to the desktop.

Now run the N2Sound program and Select SOUND BLASTER PRO MONO. Then select the numbers that match those you wrote down. A means Address, I means IRQ, and D means DMA. Once you've entered the numbers you wrote down then just click on finished and it will create the SOUND.CFG file that you need for the game. All you have to do is copy the sound.cfg file from where it was created (Where you ran the program) to the Nascar2 directory. If it's a windows isntallation that would be C:\sierra\nascar2 if it's a dos install it's C:\nascar2.

Then just start the game. If it locks up before getting into the game then odds are you don't have the right settings. If you get into the game but then find the video is blurry, off color, or skipping, then you need to make sure your card has VESA 2.0 support. Sometimes you can play the game without 2.0 but just not enter the sound setup (And that's why I wrote this program). But if you change the environment (ie the sound) then it may make the fact that you don't have VESA 2.0 a real problem. Then either contact your manufacturer for VESA support or delete the sound.cfg and you be back the way you were.

Legalese:

This program does nothing but make a .cfg file on your computer. It was meant to do nothing more and it doesn't. If your computer explodes, meltsdown, looses files, gains files, starts doing the cha cha then it's not my fault and probably not the programs fault.
Likely nothing will happen but if it does it's your problem, use at your own risk. And enjoy.

P.S. Nascar3 is coming... and check out Grand Prix Legends!
