I won't go into what you are known for here at the PRL, mainly because you already have a page that does just that. Nevertheless, I had to copy part of what you said there:
I ventured into Triathlon several years ago after entering the doctoral program in Genetics at the DOE-Plant Research Lab at conservative Michigan State University. Triathlon is a great release. I love the burning sensation in the legs after a 100 mile bike ride. And nothing beats a track workout in the intense heat of the summer. The chaos at mass swim starts brings back memories of the thrash pit at Punk shows. Its a good life. But nothing beats the adrenaline of a good race, raw, and my vision of RED. I did Ironman last year in Hawaii, 97. It was amazing. 100% Pure Pain, loving every minute of it. Gotta do it again someday. -Harley
Know a little about what an ironman is if you don't already know. It is in the understanding of what this race entails that the appreciation comes...
First of all, here is a dedication to the last of the original WOOFERs to leave the lab, YOU. Special mention goes to Woofer #3 (I could never get the numbers straight), Alex, who was in the lab far too short a time while I was there. The big guy Jim, WOOFER #1 (and the founding father of the movement) who unfortunately I did not have the chance to share the lab with, but who gave me, along with you, my first ride of campus (I still remember being in that big blue van as Jim drove us to that corner next to the pond, next to the corner of Wilson and Farm Lane, where he picked a guy with a bottle of liquor, you -that was a memorable time and one that I still remember very well). It is amazing how time flies... it was three years since I first saw the dinamic duo (those glasses took me complitely by surprise man, good thing anyone can see Jim coming -the head band was perfect).
Well, now things are a somewhat different, all you have to do is look at the before and after versions of the babe. Looking good!.

I will not add a reminder of the lab in this page (those pictures are huge and I have to manage how much space I use!), but you can find some of that here (you know, pictures of the lab, past and present).
I'll even make this page useful (since you will have this link writen in your lab-present-book -so don't miss it): you can always reach me by e-mail at [email protected] (I'll keep this updated once I leave MSU -I intend to carry my pages with me). Even if you miss it, just search for me in the web, I'll always have something going there (next to the computer).
I'll say goodbye with an invitation to you both: drop by Peru some day, you and Katie are always welcome.
