My visit to
The Teresian Military Academy
in Wiener Neustadt, Austria
Spring Break 1999

THE VIEW OF SALZBURG, AUSTRIA
You can see Der Festung Hohen Salzburg in the upper right-hand corner -- it's the city's old castle

MEETING THE GENERAL
Here I am happily greeting the commander of the
Austrian Military Academy (they call it the MilAk).

CLIMBING THE WALL
This is our "alpine training" for the week. Yeah, we were supposed to do combat skiing (I don't know how to ski) or climb a cliff somewhere of in the wilderness, but it rained and they were afraid we'd kill ourselves. SOOOO -- Indoor climbing it was.
(I apologize for the rather unflattering butt-shot)

THE AUSTRIAN UNIVERSAL WEAPON
Shooting their assault rifle was pretty cool. We had a shooting competition and everything
I even beat the 1st LT that was shooting with us in one event (just call me sniper).

ME AND MR. ED
The Austrian Army still uses horses in their alpine units, so they all have to take mandatory riding lessons.
Here I am showing my riding skillz (ok, so it was just my 2nd time riding ever...)

SHOOTING THE GLOCK
Look out Miami Vice...
