OK guys, these are some of the pictures from the turtle trip I had on mid october (20th to 22nd) for my social service, it was great, except for the storms that arrived at nights, but we really had a great time...
Well,
this is the place, We got there through a 20 minute muddy off-road way,
one of the most exciting things on the adventure. We got there by night,
and the storm was waay strong, I even saw a thunder a few meters from us...
when we were about to make it to the place, in the middle of all that darkness,
all of a sudden, a big thunder illuminated the camp as well as the beach,
it was a great welcome, you should have seen the scenery.
Ok,
after the tempest, comes the calm. This how the place looks like, it's
a great bay, with a lighthouse in one of its edges. The sand is white,
great temperature (not weather at that time), and it's a very good place
to have some rest. When we got there, it was a little bit of a problem
to put up our tent. The wind was blowing so hard, we had a hard time to
do it. You can tell by seeing how the tent was being so deformed because
of the wind.
This is the first night of the trip, we got to see many turtles that night,
it is really a great experience!, Briefly, what we do there is walking
the beach, in search of turtles, if we see one, we have to wait until it
drops its eggs and then we take all those eggs to the camp. There, we have
a designated place where we bury the eggs. We do this so the people from
the near towns don't steel the eggs or the turtle. It's like a race between
us and the "hueveros", to see who gets first there and either kills the
turtle and steals the eggs (them), or take care of them in order to the
surviving of the species.
Well, these last pictures show what we must do there:
see the turtle, wait until it starts to nest, get the eggs, and, of
course,
take some pictures.!!
See you soon. Jahir.
