Shinji is the third child. Arrives in the series to discover that he has been chosen as pilot of Eva01. Shinji is a quiet boy who tries to do what others ask of him. At first he does not want to pilot his Eva. This is mainly because he is afraid he will let everyone down including his father who is in charge of NERV. Shinji is a very self-concious boy and wants to please everyone to keep from getting hurt.
