Luncheon, August 26, 2000

First the report... then the pictures... hang in there!

Twenty people , plus The Wizard and whole bunch of his friends attended the luncheon on Saturday, August 26, 2000, at Tiffin Family Restaurant in Corona.

It was great to get to welcome RollDock (Rollie) to our group.  And what a treat to see Joker3530 (Marcia) and Polly B again - they traveled nearly a hundred miles to be with us!  A big THANK YOU to Polly's handsome son, Larry, for bringing them to us!  It's interesting to note that Polly, Bill (TonerKing), and Ros (RosalynG) are some of the original Senior Netters and that the very first gathering ever held among Senior Netters was held at Polly's home!  (See Polly's reminiscence below...)

BPettit  (Bob) is still under the weather and facing more tests, but he rallied his troops (Wizard and friends) to join us and entertain our very special guest, Kayleen.  Kayleen is five years old and an apprentice sernior citizen... LOLOL!!!  Bob ended up entertaining every child (and adult) in the place.  Thanks, Bob!  You are a special kind of angel!

JEP780 (Joyce) is also still under the weather.  She has been having all manner of serious diagnostic tests and is now enduring the worst part of all - the waiting for test results.  Thanks for being with us, Joyce.  We're all pulling for you and praying for you!

We always miss (and gossip about) those who can't attend... and we always have a good time with those who CAN.

Our regular meeting day is the 4th Saturday of each month, which seems to be the most convenient for the most people.  Please go back to the main SGGAF page for address, directions, and other information.

The following pictures are from my camera, and there may be more following from VistaGal.  Vista's camera was acting up, so we'll wait and see about that.  There is always a link to her picture site at the end of our pictures for each luncheon.

All of these pictures have the captions ATTACHED to them, so they will stay with the photos if you want to right-click and download any of them to your computer.

Dont miss information about an upcoming gathering at Toner and Ros' home in Coto de Caza AND information about our embryo plans for a 3-day cruise!

A SeniorNet remembrance from PollyB in response to my questions...

Yes, the first SeniorNet member gathering was in my home in June of 1992.

This came about one night when several of us were on line .  In those days, we could only be on line from 6 PM till 6 AM, so we were on nearly all night. And another interesting thing is that at that time there were only 19 of us altogether (SeniorNet sure has grown!)  BudRobb in San Francisco was on line telling us he was coming to LA in a few days, so I suggested that he stop by my house, as he was coming down 101, and I just live 1 mile off the freeway. He said that was a great idea, so then TonerKing & Rosalyn said they wanted to come, then Chuck Ramsey (now deceased) and KeyWiz said they wanted to come.  I did not know these people except for talking to them in SeniorNet.  People thought we were crazy going to strangers' homes and having strangers in our homes, but that was the start of the SeniorNet Bashes.  I have had many of the Bashes, always at my home and up to 58 people here for a cookout, where my son Larry did the cooking.  From us having so much fun, they caught on all over the country.

I always put these photos up two or three to a page, so that I can leave them larger and still have them load quickly into your browser.  Just keep using the "NEXT" button on each page to see more pictures.
