Roads
               a lifetime of roads traveled--
                 endlessly seeking an unnamed goal,
bypassing treasures along the way . . .
                dreams and memories meld,
                   become indistinguishable
in the flow of a mind's eyes--
                   looping endlessly together,
                  mocking distance and time--
all paths are now one . . .
broad dirt roads between welcoming maples
                  in a stolen home--
mountains and meadows too quaint and delightful
                    to be left alone  . . .
sipping wine in an icy driveway
under the warm sun of an African winter,
                   contemplating finales with a pained smile . . .
but a bright Sunday on a southern highway
                  offers time for reckoning--
a promise to finally name the goal--
a destination for all the roads of my life
