Multiple Sclerosis is a disease of the brain and spinal cord (Central Nervous System) in which the covering of the nerves (myelin sheath) is destroyed. Myelin is a protective covering of the nerves which assists in the transmission of nerve impulses. When Myelin is destroyed, messages from the brain and spinal cord do not interpret signals effectively and creates a multitude of different symptoms from occurring. When an area of demylination has occurred, it can affect a multitude of different bodily functions. Each person with MS is different and each case of MS is unique.
