It was a day of reckoning, at least for the surviving members of BETA team. Their lives depended on us; me to be exact. My actions and decisions today could make or break the mission, but I'll be damned if I'd let this squad go down to the swines. The objectives were clear: infiltrate the terrorists' head quaters, rescue the surviving members and blow the place to smithereens. Sure what else could be easier.
Having brief my squad members, Lieutenant Shazli, Commando Raja, Commando Wong and Commando Liew earlier today, the journey there was relatively quiet. It was not a mission any of them expected to come back alive, what with X-tro's arsenal of defense. The plan was simple, infiltrate by using the hardest and least expected way.....the impossible way. Well, they did not call my team, 'Misson: Imposible' for nothing.
Once there, each of us set a timer to get out of the place before it exploded. Commando Raja was to go first, scalling the base from the waste disposal system. Then, my favourite and most skillful personnel, Commando Liew scaled the mail defense wall, with inly his bare hands and feet. Catching the terrorist guards by surprise, he disposed them off without any problem.
"So far, so good", I muttered to myself. Suddenly, the alarms blared loudly, meaning that we've been spotted. So much for the stealthy approach. It seemed that Commando Wong was spotted by a terrorist while climbing the diagonal rope. I signaled to Lieutenant Shazli to begin ascend to the prison's chamber as we had no more time to lose. It was just a matter of time before this place would be crawling with terrorist scums.
Meanwhile, Commando Wong was not in a good spot at all. Surrounded by terrorists, he stood little chance of surviving the ordeal. But I was not about to give up on him; no one goes down while I'm in charge. Quickly, I signalled to Commando Liew to blow off the main defense wall and help out Commando wWong, who's in a very deadly situation.
The explosion set off by Commando Liew caught the terrorists off guard and he quickly attached a horizontal rope to go through the other side of the base. Once there, the terrorist stood no chance a Commando Wong, as they panicked when part of the base crumbled.
Well, is was time for me to do my part. Suddenly, a rope dropped out of nowhere, and sliding down was none other than the leader of X-tro, 'Iceman' Lai. He was famed for his cold-blooded technique of murdering his victims and I shuddered at the thought of facing a cold death. Even while sliding down, I could see he was holding a AK - 47 and instincvely, I jumped out of his gun sight. Firing away like mad, I was forced to duck into a dorrway for cover only to see him approaching ever closer. Lady lick must be smiling on me when suddenly, his AK - 47 got jammed and couldn't fired anymore. Seeing this oppurtunity, I charged and brought him to the ground, all the while punching and kicking wildly. But the 'Iceman' was not only good with weapons, he was an expert in unarmed combat as well. He managed to push me away and I had never faced such an equally skilled opponent before. Just when I was about to lose the fight, another part of the headquaters exploded with a bang! (It must had been set off by Commando Wong and Liew.) Luckily, he was distracted by it and seeing this oppurtunity, I reached for his neck and broke it, leaving no chance of survival.
After being provided an entry in the form of the rope (dropped by 'Iceman'Lai), I quickly ascend the rope and went to the prison chambers. There I saw Commando Raja fighting with a guard while two others were rushing there to fend my off my strong friend. It was time for some good old - fashioned butt - kicking. Drawing my pistol, I entered the chamber silently and saw Lieutenant Jason lying on the ground, still disoriented from his ordeal. The two guards didn't quite have their backs on me, but it was the best chance I was going to get. I rushed at the guards, firing off the clip from my pistol at one of the terrorist. His stocky body jerked like a puppet just as the .45 slugs thudded into him, and the other guard turned just as the I crashed through what was left of the chamber.
He raised his machine - gun but I was quicker. I landed on the corpes and fired another shot; the bulle went through his head and he fell. Relieved, I ordered Commando Raja to bring Lieutenant Jason to safety while I still had some unfinished business to do.
Meeting with Lieutenant Shazli in the control room, the heart of the terrorists' base, I saw Commando Eric had been rescued by him. He confirmed tha there were only two survivors of the massacred BETA Team, and recommended that we blew up the headquaters ASAP. While I was setting up the detonator, Lieutenant Shazli and Commando Eric put on their abseiling gear before sliding down to safety.
Suddenly, a warning blared overhead from the comm speakers. "Warning! Warning! Self - destruct in 20 seconds!" I shouted at my intercom and ordered the rest of the team to flee the place. Having no time to put on my abseiling gear, I shot my eyes around for a way to escape and found none, realising that my impending doom is coming. I suddely saw a glimmer of hope in the form of a diagonal rope lef by one of the SWAT Team member. It was a longshot, but it was also the only hope I'm going to get. Without further thoughts, I rushed and jumped in the direction of the rope. My hands barely got hold of the rope and I slide down to safety with my bare hands. not an easy feat mind you.
Just then, the whole place blw\ew up in one, single explosion. It seems that the control room was programmed to self - destructed if it was ever infiltrated. Smart move, as nearly got my life. I smiled broadly at all my teammates as well as Lieutenant Jason, who was calready coming up and around. "Thank you.....for the save", he managed to say in his weakened state. "No problem." The nighmare of X - tro, is over.
