Bradens Acoustic Set at the Sit & SPin
The Guitar pick that Braden gave to me after his performance, pretty cool huh?..all of this on a whim too.
The Night started innocently enough, i heard over the radio that braden was gonna play a acoustic set at the Sit & Spin, I called my friend Heather and Tony and asked if they would be there. I got a call back at about 8pm or so, saying that they werent gonna be there, i was really hoping they would show, cause they are cool people to hang with :). Anyways at around 8:15 i decided i was gonna go by myself. I got there at about 8:35 and basically waited for about a hr before anything even happened.
The First acoustic set was played by a man named Michael Strang, i never heard of him before, but i thought what the heck i will give him a shot, his songs were very upbeat and cool, he occasionally joked around with the audience, like apologizing to us for making us miss ER. What a nice person he was to do that. Anyways i think the most interesting song he sung was a song about being bored on a saturday nite, it was his best song, although i must admit i found myself liking most of his songs. THe Guy after Micheal Strang, was a guy named Matthew Kirchner something like that, he had a deeper more harsher mellow voice contrasted to Strang's kinda happy higher voice, i liked his set less than i did Micheal's but his set was still pretty good, his best song was a cover of Super Deluxe, something about wild flowers in a vase or something, it was pretty uplifting. At this time Braden showed up as well as did his family, i saw his mother and his sister Tiffiany sit in the front on the pillows. Everyone got ready for BRaden.
When Braden stepped up on the stage, he had his famaliar christmas lights on his mic stand, braden started with his smash hit commonplace, it was great how he manauvered around the song, it totally keep the whole crowd going it was a awesome song, then he played suicide doll, a favorite of mine it totally sounded like it had alot of energy. Braden also played a couple of Covers, one from RIck Springfield about Falling in love with movie stars which was pretty sappy, a song by elvis costello and another one by the posies, he also sang a cute song that was dedicated to his wife..who was sitting right next to me on a pillow. Then his best song of the nite was famous, he totally put alot of energy into it. He said that was his last song, but the crowds long ovation changed his mind, he begun taking requests, i guess i screamed my request the loudest cos he played what i wanted to hear, Years ago..i totally love that song. Then to close out his set and to close out the evening of fun he played She came on, that song rocked like no other. THrough out the nite i found out that braden was a complete joker and totally talked to the crowd and making faces, he totally played the crowd just the right way. Before he was even finished, i told myself that i would go up and ask for his guitar pick (and well obviouslly, i got it!). I let him do a little business with his wife, hugs and such, then i walked over to him and asked for his guitar pic, i told him i was fan while doing so, he reached into his left pocket and grabbed and gave it to me...i was so happy. after the show i ran to the bus stop and caught the bus home.
Earlier in the nite, i found chris standing by the beer place with jake, i talked with chris a little bit before...joked around a little about somethings, and as i was leaving i pointed to him and said i would see him at the next show, which is at the fenix feb 19th for only 5 bucks, i know i am there..Super Deluxe ROcks!
I Had a Awesome time!
