I've spent the last few nights thinking a lot about this speech. Thinking of jokes and stories to make Michael look stupid. Well that's what the best man's supposed to do, isn't it?!?! I think... no.. I'm sure Mick ended up asking me, his younger brother, to be best man as he could not make a decision out of all of his other great friends, or maybe he just didn't want you all to hear all the shameful stories they would have said about him!
But I have known Mick all my life, in which time I have found out what he is really all about. They say you can judge a man by the company he keeps. Well most of this is true in Mick's case, apart from him sleeping all day and sitting on the computer all night; which is something none of us could understand. But it seems he may have had his plans, plans that no one ever thought of, or thought of thinking of! And this is where Sophie-Anne comes into the equation.
It seems that while all the boys were out on the town spending their money on alcohol in night clubs, thinking that mIck was working away at UNI or home for some sort of pass in the comnputing he was studying, but for some reason he was not getting the results for the amount of time he spent on his computers - Mick was actually spending, well it seems to be most of his time on the internet talking, or chatting up the girls with his internet name "LOVE GOD". Well who would have thought a name like that would have attracted anyone's interest, let alone a bride!
Sophie blended into the chaos of our family really well and quickly at that. When I first heard about Soph all she was,...well all Mick told us about her was that she was a friend off the internet who he was staying with while he worked in Canada.
When Mike moved to Canada for a working holiday, he became a different man. Then there was the news of the engagement that he was quite shy to us all about. We later found out that Mick had been doing more work after hours than at work itself!
Anyway Soph, on behalf of your new family, I'd personally like to welcome you into our family and wish you and Michael all the very best for many happily married years. I would also like to thank you both for giving me the honour of being your Bestman on this special day. And before I forget, I should comment on how nice the Bridesmaid looks today.
