Welcome to Jack and Lucky's Page.
Lucky is a very special puppy. On October 18th, 1999 Ken and I lost our Australian Shepherd (Buster) to an 18 wheeler in a hurry. We had just bought the house five days before and just beginning to get used to the country. I was devastated at the death of Buster.Ken and I swore that we would never watch another dog suffer like that. We didn't plan on anymore dogs. We still had Sadie and she was plenty.
Well on my way home from work one day I noticed a spot in the middle of the road. I slowed down and pulled over to the curb to avoid any traffic build up behind me. I slowly walked up to the yellow line in the road and put up my hand and prayed that the car coming would see my hand and stop. He did and I ran up and saved Jack. He was sitting so calmly on the yellow line in the middle of the road. I am just glad I was there to find him and see to it that he had a loving home. He was covered in dirt and pine needles. I knew someone must have dropped him off in the country, so I took him to doctor Shuffett, had him cleaned up and boostered up, and then I took him home. Now we have Sadie Lady and Jack.
Well, we didn't get to Lucky as quickly as we did Jack. Ken was on his way home from work one evening when he noticed a shirt laying in the middle of the lane. As he got closer he noticed it was an animal. Thinking it was an injured cat he began to hover it to avoid hitting it and instead planning to put it out of it's misery. That is, until Lucky turned around and her eyes stared straight into Ken's. Realizing it was a dog, he swerved off the road into the parking lot and picked her up. Lucky had been hitby a car. Lucky suffered a broken left leg and a busted jaw. Her right leg was paralyzed. After two months of healing and numerous surgeries, Lucky is alive and well. She is certainly a miracle. We just recently had to amputate the right (paralyzed)leg, but now she runs faster, jumps higher, and plays more than any other dog in that house. She is finally healthy, happy, and for once... Loved. We still don't know who hit her or why they didn't stop to pick her up and get her help, but we do know that God put us there just in time to help her. She is a true miracle. I am only thankful we were there to help her.
