WHAT'S GOING ON
Mind
Life is tough, especially through these teen years. Kowing where to go, what to do, all the questions that everyone seems to have answered yet I can sense that noboy really knows what's going on, you know, it kinda seems like we're all at some sorta costume ball, all dressed out of our norm, all wearing some stupid mask to make us look like something else; maybe not even something that we want to be, just something else.
Oh how wierd it would be to just be ourselves, to not have students cheat in their AP classes, to not have religious emblems to dangle around our necks; to just exist.
You look around at school, at work, on the bus, or in the store and what do you see? Everyone is on a quet, everyone has something to proove. What about just living? Yet when one attempts to find where their mind wants to be they are labeled as outcasts and looked down upon for their desire of something else.
Ramblings of the Week
Why do people fear others so much? In talking with friends form other countries they find Americans to be rather freindly. I find this to be true because Americans do not have the level of intensity that you find in the other two of the top three nations (Germany and Japan). Perhaps it is because we are not so educated, we are not philosophers. We are taught many things, but at a dumbed down level and trained not to think individually. Since we do not think or ponder we do not worry about the things that our German or japanese friends might---leting us live a more relaxed life. This is no crime--we may not be smart, but we are happy, and where is the evil in happiness? Without social issues like wars, government, or social competition to involve ourselves so deeply in we choose to focus on the gossip of the age, other people, and how they think of us. Women contort their flesh daily to try and not only impress males, but not be razed by other females. Men fret over their mass. Both genders look to clothing names as shelters and obvious signs of their status. This is not so common in our more intense friends overseas. How wierd it is that things are like this.
For example, in Germany teens and many adults will find a mate by first haveing sexual relations and then discovering if the personality is a match. In the US such a thing is looked down upon, feels wrong, and causes complications, but since the Germans are not so concerned with other people it is no big deal. Wow
Something to Consider
Freedom? What exactly has it cost? Friends of mine in the German community tell me that althought the stadrard of liveing has increased many East German and ex-soviet block countries would rather go back to their communist leaders than face the complications of western freedom. The wall fell ten years ago; it is time to consider the options. We may ba against the "evil empire" and may find communism repulsive, but if the people were happy was it all that bad?
