"LIFE IS A BANQUET AND MOST POOR SUCKERS ARE STARVING TO DEATH"
-Mame Dennis
My name is Roxanne Whipple AKA La Diosa. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico with BlueCat and two furry felines, BC and Sheena.
My interests include but aren't limited to: Reading, The arts, aromatherapy, traveling, camping, gardening, museums and zoos, mermaids. I have an eclectic taste in books and music. I think everything's so interesting I can't make up my mind what I like best. Art Nouveau and Art Deco are my favorite art genre. I'm a Leo with my moon in Cancer and my acending sign in Libra. My ethic background is a mixed bag ( as are most Americans) of Celtic, Native American( Pawnee and Cherokee) and German.
I was raised an Air Force brat and was an Army wife so I've spent the majority of my life as a gypsy. I lived in Okinawa for several years as a child and spent three tours in Germany. I liked Stuttgart best, because it has a wonderful transportation system and you can go anywhere on it without owning your own vehicle. There are still places in this world I'd like to go including: The British Isles, Italy and Spain.
I've followed an alternate spiritual path for about 10 years. I'm a solitary practitioner of the magical arts. In other words I'm a witch. I believe in and observe both the male and female aspects of deity, the God and Goddess. I firmly agree with the concept of reincarnation, that we live many lifetimes. Many would term me as a white folk witch or kitchen witch. I use items readily available in everyday life for the tools of my rituals. I'm not impressed with the fancy tools, but feel the energy and power I put into the ritual is what is effective. I've chosen to participate in positive magic. There's much debate amongst the pagan community concerning white, black and grey magic. I only know what feels right and ethical to me. I chose the positive path because I feel magic should be helpful and beneficial, not harmful. I don't want to create and suffer the consequences of negative karma, the cause and effect of our actions. I believe in and respect the validity of all religious beliefs as long as they provide happiness and benefit in one's life. I just expect the same tolerance and respect in turn. Enough said.
I have a BFA in Theate Arts with my emphasis in costume design/construction, scenic art and props. I attended UNLV in Las Vegas, NV and earned my degree at ENMU in Portales, NM. I enjoy the creative aspect of it and fantasy costume is my favorite genre.
Another of my avid interests is cultural anthropology and if I hadn't chosen my first love, the arts for my major it would have been my alternate field of study. I especially enjoy learning about Native American culture and beliefs. I feel a connection with many of the earth/nature religions where there is respect for the energy surrounding us on this planet.
I also find an interest in alternate cultures and lifestyles since I'm not a conventional person myself. I've always considered myself a open-minded and free-thinking indivdual. I try not to judge others choices against the "social norms" of this society. We've made great strides in this century, but still have a long way to go to achieve the balance of tolerance and acceptance between conventionality and sub-culture. I try to follow the golden rule if you will, by treating others the way I want to be treated.
