Re: Playoffs

"It's Playoff Time fellas"

 Monday August 30, 1999:

Game 1: Whalers v Wolfpack. 8 PM

I didn't get to the rink in time to catch this one. Obviously I didn't miss much -- Wolfpack forfeited.

Game 2: Saskatoons v DJ's Computers Mad Kowz. 9 PM

I did get to the rink in time to catch this one. The Mad Kowz were the Defending Champions from the Spring Season. Like I said... they were. Saskatoons 10 -- Kowz 4. While we are on the subject of the Saskatoons -- could someone please let me know what a Saskatoon is?

Game 3: Pennsylvannia PileDrivers v Tile Cutters. 10 PM

I won't get into a debate on these teams' records. I really won't comment on the fact that while the PileDrivers had an impressive 7 - 1 record, 4 of their wins came against teams that finished out of the playoffs (only two teams finished out of the playoff hunt). But hey -- you gotta play the schedule you were given. At least this game was close! After the PileDrivers spotted the Tile Cutters 3 goals -- they drove back to take the lead 4 -3. A late 3rd period goal by the Tile Cutters sent the game into OT & the 7th seeded Tile Cutters managed to put away the 2nd seeded PileDrivers with just under 2 minutes to play in the 5 minute OT. Tile Cutters 5 -- PA PileDrivers 4.

Game 4: Monster X v Coastal Pirates. 11 PM

It was a tough night for the Pirates. Monster X 11 -- Coastal Pirates 1.

Tuesday August 31, 1999

Game 1: Saskatoons v Monster X. 8 PM

Once again, I didn't get to the rink in time to catch this one. Saskatoons 7 -- Monster X 3.

Game 2: Whalers v Tile Cutters. 9 PM

Fresh off their overtime victory against the PileDrivers, the Tile Cutters battled hard against the Whalers well into the 3rd period. Even a few former Tile Cutters showed up trying to inspire the team to victory. (Said players wanted it to be noted that they were "The Tile Cutter's Greatest Fans ... at least for today" -- I think they just wanted to face their former mates in the Championship Game). Anyway, the Whalers put it into another gear and put the game away in the 3rd. Whalers 5 -- Tile Cutters 1.

Game 3: Indians v Geriatrics. 10 PM

No --this wasn't a playoff game. In fact - if this web site wasn't so Politically Correct -- it would be said to be the battle to see who finished in last place. Alas -- but we live in a more PC society -- so we'll just say that this was a battle between two Talently Challenged teams (and that is not to say that both of these teams don't have some talented players -- they just might need a little more time playing as a unit). Anyway -- the Indians were forced to forfeit when they were left with out a goalie. This was probably a good thing for the Geriatrics because as you can see in the above photo -- by late in the game they were so beat that they couldn't even skate -- they resorted to crawling back into the play!

Thursday September 2, 1999:
