He shoots --- he doesn't score -- yet. That's it -- the final game of the Winter '99 regular season. The Mad Cows were 8 to 1 winners over the Bad Boys.
The first round of the playoffs were played on Tuesday March 30, 1999. You would think that the matchups would bring about some exciting close hockey games. Like I said -- you would think that --- but if you did -- you were wrong! How do you spell blowout? Here's two different ways:
- 9:00 Game -- Coastal Pirates Vs Fury. Forget for a moment that the Coastal Pirates are the " Eatontown Roller Hockey Defending Champions" -- the two teams played earlier in the season and the Fury pulled out an 8 - 6 victory. The teams Finished in 3rd & 4th place, respectively. This game should have been close... Well I guess it was close -- until the puck was dropped. In hindsight -- the Fury were doomed from the start -- of the teams in the playoffs, they were the only one without a capital 'C' (Coastal Pirates - Cyclones - Tile Cutters - Mad Cows),
Coastal Pirates 12 Fury 2
- 10:00 Mad Cows Vs Cyclones. O.K. -- O.K this game was the 2nd place team vs the 5th place team -- so maybe you would expect the second place team to prevail -- but the Cyclones played the first place team a week earlier and lost by only a goal. The earlier matchup between the two was a 10-6 victory for the Mad Cows. You would think that the Cyclones would have at least scored a goal. Well - you could think that -- but you would be wrong.
Mad Cows 10 Cyclones 0.

Wayne drops the puck on the Mad Cows season. |
Tuesday April 6: Mad Cows Vs Coastal Pirates.
- Let's just say that the Mad Cows were a little upset at the end of this one.
Coastal Pirates 6 - Mad Cows 0
The Championship Game was played on Sunday April 11 @ 8:00 PM.
- To say that it was a HARD FOUGHT BATTLE would be an understatement. In the end -- The Tile Cutters were able to unseat the Defending Champions.
Tile Cutters 6 - Coastal Pirates 1 (this may not be the actual final score - it needs confirmation)
