To continue Learning!

You hear about Dole University being talked around Dole Asia. The President of Dole Asia talks about it, you may be talking about it. Is there really a Dole University?

There is. But it is not a University like Oxford University, or Harvard University. The Dole University is not like these universities. You do not get a degree in Dole University. However, our students and teachers are learning, and continue to learn. So, what is it?

Broadly, the Dole University is Dole's learning experiences and interventions. The students are our employees and partners. Our teachers are among ourselves and other experts in the Industry. Our campuses are our fields of work, factories and the plantations. Here, we continue to learn to improve ourselves, our teamwork, our work, and technology. Here, we engage in Adult Learning, where students have basic ideas and knowledge of their work; and based on these experiences we continue to engage for technology improvement and for leadership and creativity enhancements.

We learn through self-study, through reading, through on-the-job-training, through formal classroom workshops and seminars.

Since, Dole operates its business worldwide, the Dole University is a virtual learning institution and organization. It is for personal development and for organizational transformation. With this learning culture, Dole assures its competitive presence in our business and assures our customers and shareholders consitent quality and productivity, and growing wealth.

The Dole University, as broadly interpreted, however, has some formal organization. It is run and directed by the Board of Regents who are the President and General managers of Dole Companies in Asia. Below this is the Academic Board which pushes the implementations, and monitors progress of all learning interventions. The Academic Board is composed of all the Training Directors of the various companies. The Board of Regents meets at least twice a year. The Academic Board meets every period.

Following are some of the documents of the Dole University.
