Height: inches Cup Diameter at Top: inches Saucer Diameter: inches Item Description:

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer both have an embossed pattern. Both the cup as well as the saucer are further accented with flower bouquet transfers. A gold trim edges the top of the cup.
There is no manufacturers mark on the suacer, which may not actually belong to the cup but is done in a similar style as that of the cup. The cup bottom is marked with a 3-D cube on which appear the letters I, J, and B on each of the cube's faces; probably the manufacturer's mark. "Germany US Zone" appears below the manufacturer's mark. The period when this type of marking would have been used existed from 1945 to 1950 when Germany was divided among the Allies after WWII. U.S. started requiring country of origin stamps written in English on all imported goods starting in 1891; therefore, this item was probably made for import to the U.S. sometime between 1945 and 1950.
It is uncertain if in fact the saucer origionally belonged with this cup; though, both are made in a similar style.
