AIM:
To develop and improve
the student’s competency and skill to achieve an adequate level of
safety.
OBJECTIVE:
The student’s successful
accomplishment of the first solo flight in the circuit.
CONTENT:
1 - Pre flight discussion
2 - Review as follows:
(a) Normal
and Crosswind circuits
(b) Go arounds
(c) Recovery
from poor approaches and landings
(d) Basic
emegency landings
3 - Introduce the
student to:
(a) First
solo flight in the circuit (One complete circuit - a full stop).
4 - Post flight
debriefing
METHOD:
Instructor will
conduct brief discussion with the student covering the previous flight
and the possibility of solo. The student performs a “walk around”and “pre
flight inspection” of the aircraft. The student performs the start
up procedures and radio calls, followed by take off and standard departure
procedures. Once in the circuit, the instructor will then review the student’s
performance at circuit procedures and emergency procedures in the circuit
(over approximately 3 to 4 circuits). Then the instructor has the
student land. Upon landing, all having gone well, the instructor
will disembark from the aircraft after instructing the student to perform
one complete circuit (full stop). After completion of the circuit,
the student will land, finishing with parking and shut down procedures.
The flight will be completed with a post flight review briefing and a preview
of the lesson to come.
EVALUATION:
The Flight is considered
successful if at it’s completion :
- The student is
alive
- The aircraft is
undamaged and uncrashed.
- The student has
completed one solo circuit.
