A congratulatory note to the folks over at Id
Software for making an incredibly kewl game and allowing for
editing and changes to all aspects of the game for us hackers and programmers!
But to fully appreciated Quake2 to it's fullest I highly recommend using
the Monster
3D Voodoo 1 or 2 graphics accelerators powered by the 3DFX
chip. (I have one) WOOHOO!
For me the best map editor to use for Quake2 is of course Qoole.
For first timers, and for the most experienced out there, it is definitely
the editor of choice.
There are of course a few other Quake2 editors out there like:
1. DirectX v7.0a, courtesy of Microsoft
you can get it here
(6.3 Mb).
2. Latest patch for Quake 2 which
is v3.20 plus the full CTF add-on, courtesy of CDROM.COM, you can get it
here
(18.8 Mb).
3. Location of a TONNE of Quake
2 maps and levels at CDROM.COM, you can get those here.
I have made two Quake2 maps so far, here is my
latest Quake2 map, cjdm5.zip.
Here is the first one I made, carl2.zip.
