Creating a Player Character

Creating a player character is a very time consuming and complicated process, this is because unlike many RPG's this system has no classes/professions to choose from and nearly all aspects of the character are unique from all others; thus, the system is far more flexible and allows the player to have the character they truly desire. Even though the system can be time consuming and requires extensive input from the player, I believe that the flexibility inherent in the system will provide for more satisfying gameplay.

The steps to create a character follows. To conserve space I have not repeated the information that is listed in other sections, this will require you to reference those sections as needed.

All skills the Character learns during creation have a base score of 5, (any Applicable Attribute bonus, is also determined at this time).

If desired the player may spend Skill Points to increase the base score of a skill(s) each Skill Point used in this manner increases one skills score by 2 points.

A character's Skill Points are determined by his/her Memory Attribute:

Memory Skill Points
20 - 25 5
26 - 30 6
31 - 35 7
36 - 40 8
41 - 45 9
46 - 55 10
56 - 60 11
61 - 65 12
66 - 70 13
71 - 75 14
76 - 80 15
81 - 85 16
86 - 90 17
91 - 95 18
96 - 100 19
101 - 105 20
106 -110 21
111 - 115 22
116 - 120 23

Skills cost 2 Skill Points each, unless a Hobby or Restricted Skill for the character's Race. Hobby Skills are so prevalent within the area that Race occupies, that it is easier to find a highly skilled instructor to learn the skill from and hence easier to learn the skill while in that area, this applies for any character that was educated within that cultural area and this benefit will continue after play has begun (the benefit applies whenever someone studies those skills in that area). Restricted skills are skills that many members of that race normally do not learn, the elevated cost to learn these skills approximates the character overcoming the normal inhibitions of his Race. The elevated cost for Restricted skills applies even for skills studied after play has begun.

Skills may be improved once play has begun through the expenditure of experience points (xp). See the chart that follows for the cost to improve skills. Also included on the chart are the required costs to improve the character's Attributes. Once play has begun, additional skills may also be studied, to do so the player must find an instructor and the time to learn the skill and spend 1000 xp per skill point required, this provides a base of 1 in that skill.
