Skills

The skills known by characters will belong to one of several skill "Groups", groups are merely a reference as to the general type of skill. Many will also belong to either a "Discipline"or a "Category". Disciplines are skills that due to their close relationship to one another allow development of the general discipline with additional specialization in specific skills. Categories are skills that are closely related, but due to the large number of variables involved must still be developed as separate skills, some Categories will contain several Disciplines. These classifications are used for the purposes of assigning the costs to learn/improve the skills.

In addition, the skill will be rated as either generalist or educational. A generalist skill provides a base chance of success equal to ½ of the skill's attribute bonus for anyone attempting to use the skill provided they possess even a minimal amount of knowledge whether formally trained in it or not. Educational skills may only be attempted by those with actual training.

In general, skill use is resolved with an open-ended d100 roll adding the applicable skill and attribute bonuses, while subtracting any GM imposed difficulty penalties. Full success is achieved by having a total on the roll of at least 96. Some skill use rolls of less than 96 may indicate a partial success. In this case, the total rolled indicates the approximate percentage of the task accomplished.
 

The skills listed on the following charts are the most widely used skills from all the Conquest Game System. For brevity, the following abbreviations are used in the Attribute Bonus formulas:

When a secondary attribute appears outside of parenthesis in a formula use only the attribute's modifier and not the total score.
