Statistical Analysis Of Internet Population in Hong Kong
- Teens and young adults comprised the majority of new users
- 34 percent of all users are Teens and young adults.
- 25 percent of users were aged between 35 and 44, up 18 percent from last year.
- Most users will log on every day and spend up to two hours online.
- Only 11 percent of users had ever purchased anything online.
- 21 percent said that they would consider buying something online within the next year.
- 54 percent of users said they had a PC, up 5.5 percent from last year.
- 36 percent of people who own personal computers now surf the Net. (Last year that figures was 26 percent.)
- The leading service provider was Navigator who serve 46 percent of the city, CTI serve 14 percent and HK Star (now part of the Navigator) is the third biggest provider with 9 percent of users.
Statistical Analysis Of Internet Population in China
- Over 4 million people online in June 1999. This number is expected to increase to between 5 and 8 million by the end of the year.
- Men account for 85 percent of users.
- 86 percent of users having college degrees and 25 percent work in the computer industry
- A California-based IT research firm projects that by 2005, China will have the second largest population of Internet users, with 37.3 million, next to the United States, with 126.6 million.
- Between 2003 and 2005, China will begin to dominate the Asia Pacific region in terms of Internet users.
