Teri's Play -N- Learn Daycare
The children at Play-N-Learn Daycare are our first priority. We believe that children learn best when presented with an enriching play environment. We believe that play is the fundamental basis for not only learning, but also for proper growth and development. We also believe that each child develops at his/her own speed. In our enriching environment, the children can challenge themselves at their own pace and thus learn the skills they need without pressure from adults. Some children learn best under pressure, and the staff at Play-N-Learn Daycare will be looking for these individuals so that their needs can be addressed as well. The main focus of this day care facility is the individual development of each child however fast or slow it may be.In addition to play, we regularly read to the children. We also believe that touch is important to proper growth. The infants in our care are held as often as possible and we do not believe in leaving children in cribs unless they are asleep.
We encourage the parents of our children to stop by as frequently as possible so that the children know that their parents have not forgotten them, and the parents know that their children are well taken care of.
We believe that children are our first priority. We must put their welfare above all else.We believe that children are free spirits. We foster their freedom through what we teach them.
We believe that children need to play. We must provide safe play areas for them.
We believe that children need physical contact. We must give them love and attention.
We believe that children need good role models. We must be the best role models we can.
We believe that children learn best at their own pace. We must provide an enriching environment to make this possible.
We believe that children are very impressionable. We must avoid teaching violence to them.
Of all the child development theorists studied, Levy has had the most profound influence on the philosophy of this childcare. Play is present throughout the life cycle and is necessary for proper growth and development. Therefore, all learning should be done in a manner that can be considered play. Research has shown that work quality improves when play is included. This goes for children as well as adults.
In closing, here is a quote from Kahlil Gibran:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself.
You may give them your love,
But not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies,
But not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
Which you cannot visit,
Not even in your dreams.
