"I'm originally from a small rural farming community in central Pennsylvania.. I have always been sensitive to the vibrations around me though it took the revelations I experienced in 1974, during my studies in Europe, for me to realize that I had been sensitive to them. Feeling (and still feeling!) the call to values and traditions that have been traditionally observed by ancient cultures, I became aware of the thriving earth forces around us. I learned of the spiritual world that exists as an integral part of nature. I like to think of myself as a 'Mother-Earth' worker.
"I've owned and operated my own business, Laurie-Scaping Landscaping & Gardening for the past 23 of my 46 years. I have 5 years of college majoring in Environmental Science, Landscaping and Gardening, and minoring in Phys. Ed. I have received some of my training abroad in thirteen countries, especially Brazil, Italy, Switzerland and Holland, primarily learning the medicinal properties of various plants while also enhancing my landscaping skills.
"When I realized that pursuing my major of Environmental Sciences was going to always involve working with harsh, toxic chemicals, I shifted my major to Landscaping and Gardening (Nursery Management.) I believe in preserving Mother Nature and her treasures the way she originally intended.
"The plant kingdom is the best air-conditioner! It’s no secret that plants provide oxygen to breathe, nectar for butterflies, and food for the birds and other animals. They provide beauty for the environment with their year round color and gifts as well. I believe if one is going to invest resources in their landscapes, at least some of it should be edible.
"My landscapes and gardens are organic, insect and disease resistant, and as maintenance free as possible. I believe landscapes are meant for enjoyment, and should not have to be constantly managed with caustic chemicals, and costly equipment. The plants are tended according to astrological portents, reassuring the best times to plant, primp, weed, fertilize, and harvest. The plants within the landscapes in general are integrated: the herb plants are mixed with the perennials which are mixed with the trees, shrubs and bulbs, thus creating synergistic energies via symbiotic relationships. My landscapes and gardens are a true emanation of health, vitality, beauty, and charm, and can function in a plethora of purposes ranging from the therapeutic, to the aesthetic, to just plain having good things to eat!"
