It's nearly spring and things are about to start
cooking again here at Penland. This Saturday (March 3) is our annual
community open house which runs from 1-5 PM. This is a great afternoon
with activities in most of the studios--if you're in the area, be sure
to stop by. Details are on our website.
In other news, we have a limited number of grant-funded scholarships
available to full-time primary and secondary teachers who are taking our
special summer workshop titled The Urgency of Teaching Art. You can find
information on these scholarships by following the link from our home
page.
Spring Concentration classes begin on Sunday, March 11. The session is
nearly full, but as of today there is an opening in Suzie Ganch's
beginning metals class and one in Anna Tomczak's photography class,
which will also include some instruction in bookbinding. Details are
available in the spring course description page of our website. If you
are interested in either of these classes, call Lisa Grindstaff at
828-765-2359.
The website address is www.penland.org.
Be sure to look through the summer course descriptions for many images
of instructor work (fun to look at even if you're not planning to take a
class).
Yours,
Robin Dreyer
Communications Manager
