Spike

Spike's life as a vampire began when he met Angelus and Drusilla, around 120 years ago. No one is sure who sired Spike; all that is known is that it was either Drusilla or Angelus. An Englishman, Spike, has kept his accent over the years, unlike Angel, whose Irish brogue has faded into an unmistakeable American accent. Spike's past is very much a mystery. It is known that Spike spent much of his early life as a vampire in Britain, but ventured further afield as he grew older. When Angelus became Angel as the result of a gypsy curse, Spike and Drusilla were left to themselves and made a home for themselves in Europe. It was in Prague that Dru was weakened by an angry crowd, and shortly after that moved to America. Spike claims to have been at Woodstock, where he
"..fed off a flower person, and spent the next six hours watching my hand move."
Spike was formerly known as William The Bloody, but got his present alias from his penchant for tortuing his victims with a railroad spike. Other than these details, little is known about Spike's life before he arrived in Sunnydale, in 1998.
