Title: Fuze3 Technologies Combines Broadcast Media With the Net, Linking Over-the Air /Signals to Web Sites
Abstract: Fuze3 Technologies, an Internet convergence technology company based in San Jose, announced today it has developed technologies for two new products that will allow the convergence of broadcast media and the Web. Fuze3 technology is used to create integrated Internet televisions. Branded FuzeTVs are designed using modular architecture allowing for multiple access options and easy product upgrades.

Fuze3 also has created a remote bookmarking device, called the FuzeLink, that lets users capture additiona information in the Internet related to television or radio content. The FuzeLink eliminates this problem, enabling the user to rise above the maze of information by directly linking the broadcast to specific, deep URLs. Electronically detecting data signals embedded in programming or ads, the FuzeLink lets viewers simply 'click' to store that information for later access via a PC.

"We believe convergence is the future," said Warren Williams, president of Fuze3. "Fuze3 is striving to bring that convergence into the hands of consumers today. With FuzeTV, people will be able to check or send an email or surf the Net through their TV. Title: AOL Gets Its Name in Front of Students with New Service
Abstract: AOL's new free service is reigniting the debate over growing commercialism in schools. AOL@School is a version of the company's consumer Internet software that is customized for educators and students. The software creates a whole Web "environment" with links to Internet sites tailored to specific grade levels. AOL does not provide Internet access along with the software. Instead, the service is intended for the 95 percent of schools in the United States that already have access, most of it financed by federal and corporate sources. Students using the software may only follow links to approved Web sites, and its search engine is limited to approved sites as well. The selected sites include homework helpers, tutors, Time Magazine for Kids and The New York Times Learning Network. Ann Flynn, director of education technology partnerships for the National School Boards Association (NSBA), said AOL@School is one of a number of methods companies are using to get technology, and their product names, into the classroom. While Flynn said the NSBA also does not endorse software or products, she said AOL@School could be a useful resource for teachers lacking the time or the skill level to search the Web for educational resources themselves.
