Commission on Secondary Schools accredits schools in the Middle Atlantic States region.

New England Association
Commission on Public Secondary Schools oversees the accreditation of public schools, middle level through high school, serving grades K-12, 5-12 and 9-12 in New England.

North Central Association
Commission on Schools accredits schools in seven categories: Elementary, Middle, Secondary, College Preparatory, Vocational/Adult, Optional/Special Function, and Unit (K-12).

Southern Association
Commission on Secondary and Middle Schools

Western Association
Accrediting Commission for Schools accredits public or private elementary, middle, secondary, K-8, K-12, and certain adult schools. Territory includes California, Hawaii, the Pacific, and East Asia.

National Institutional and Specialized Accrediting Bodies

ASPA
Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors.

DETC
Accredits private and non-private distance education institutions offering degree programs (associate, baccalaureate, and master's) and non-degree programs primarily through distance learning
