Ampelopsis brevipedunculata 'Elegans' : VITACEAE, (Variegated Porcelain Vine). This tendril-clinging vine has leaves irregularly variegated with cream. The small white flowers in early summer yield ½" porcelain-blue berries in late summer and fall. Zones 6-9. Potentially invasive - plant with care! Anisostichus (Bignonia) capreolata : BIGNONIACEAE, (Cross Vine). Strong growing, woody, evergreen, tendrilled climber, with 2" flowers of yellow-orange in spring. Southeastern native, enjoying some shade, and a moist soil. Our stock is from Walthall Co., MS. Zones 5-10.

Asarina erubescens (Maurandya erubescens) : SCROPHULARIACEAE, (Creeping Gloxinia). Two-lipped rose-pink flowers resemble snapdragons. Blooms exuberantly in cool weather. Mexican native climber with soft-pubescent gray-green leaves. Give full sun. Hardy here. Zones 7-11.
Campsis radicans : BIGNONIACEAE, (Trumpet Creeper). Vigorous, deciduous, native vine. Orange-red, tubular flowers in summer. Give full sun to partial shade. Zones 5-9. Potentially invasive - plant with care!
Clematis paniculata : RANUNCULACEAE, (Sweet Autumn Clematis). Twining vine with fragrant white flowers in late summer. Blooms in August here. Give full sun for best flowering, but provide some shade for the roots. New Zealand. Zones 5-9.
Clematis virginiana, (Virgin's Bower). Slender, twining vine, with white flowers in late summer (August here). Fluffy seed heads follow. Southeastern native, tolerant of full sun and poor soils. Seen on fencerows in this area. Zones 6-9. .

Hydrangea anomala SSP. petiolaris : SAXIFRAGACEAE, (Climbing Hydrangea). Strong growing, clinging vine with the ability to climb tall trees to 50 feet or more. White summer flowers and good foliage, with exfoliating bark on older vines. China, Japan. Zones 4-8.
Ipomoea Batatas 'Blackie' : CONVOLVULACEAE, (Blackie Sweet Potato Vine). Tender perennial cultivated as an annual. Nearly black leaved true sweet potato, though we haven't tried to harvest the root. Grown for the attractive foliage. Pinkish flowers. Full sun to partial shade.

Ipomoea x multifida (Quamoclit x Sloteri), (Hearts-and-Honey Vine). Reseeding annual twining vine with deeply cut leaves and white-eyed, bright crimson flowers. Flowers about 2 inches long, salverform. Full sun. Hybrid : I. coccinea x I. quamoclit.
Ipomoea Quamoclit (Quamoclit pennata), (Cypress Vine, Cardinal Climber, Star Glory). Bright red morning glory with ferny leaves. Salverform flowers with flared lip, about 1½" long. Reseeding annual twining vine to 10' or more. From the American tropics; naturalized here. Give full sun and good drainage. Potentially invasive - plant with care! Jasminum Beesianum : OLEACEAE, (Red Jasmine). Rose-red, slightly fragrant flowers on vining plants. Slender, restrained growth. Leaflets one to three. Partial shade. From Western China. Zones 7-11.
Jasminum grandiflorum, (Spanish Jasmine, Royal Jasmine). A shrub/vine with very fragrant white flowers, pink in bud. Excellent everbloomer. Flowers used in perfumery. Glossy, dark green pinnate foliage; leaflets 5-7. Grows well in sun, with a well drained soil. Hardy here to 17° F, in a protected location. Native, perhaps, to Arabia. Zones 8-11.
Jasminum Leratii. Evergreen climber with white flowers. Leaves of one leaflet, 2 inches long. New Caledonia, Loyalty Islands (South Pacific). Zones 9-11.
Jasminum multipartitum, (African Jasmine). Small evergreen shrub/vine with fragrant white flowers in summer. Hardy here to 22°F.
Jasminum nitidum, (Star Jasmine, Angel-Wing Jasmine). Waxy foliage on this clambering shrub/vine is attractive enough, but the real "star" is the wonderfully fragrant white, pinwheel-shaped flowers in summer to fall. Give a little shade, and a rich, well drained soil. Native to the Admiralty Islands, near Papua New Guinea in the southwestern Pacific. Zones 8-11; has survived 17ºF. Jasminum officinale, (Poet's Jessamine). Strong growing vine with slightly fragrant white flowers in spring. May be kept shrubby for a while if trimmed. Full sun best. Native to Himalayas. Zones 7-9 (10).

Jasminum volubile (J. gracile), (Australian Jasmine). Evergreen climber with waxy foliage; leaflets one. White flowers. Sun tolerant. Hardy here. Zones 8b-11.
Jasminum volubile 'Medio-Picta', (Variegated Australian Jasmine). Beautifully variegated evergreen climber. The center of the single leaflet is spotted with yellow. White flowers. Needs a little shade. Zones 9-11 (?).

Mascagnia macroptera : MALPIGHIACEAE, (Brazilian Golden Vine). Yellow, starry flowers followed by fat, winged samaras. Vigorous vine to 15'. Hardy in Baton Rouge (Zone 8B), untested here.
Milletia reticulata : FABACEAE, (Evergreen Wisteria). Twining woody vine, evergreen in milder climates, but deciduous here. Pinnate leaves are leathery and quite attractive. Dense 8" racemes of wisteria-like purple flowers appear in fall at the tips of established plants. Partial shade is perhaps best. Watch out for the exploding seed pods in winter. China. Zones 8-11.
Mina lobata (Quamoclit lobata) : CONVOLVULACEAE. Twining annual vine. Spikes of ¾" tubular flowers in summer are red at first, changing through orange to yellow, and finally white, with all colors usually present at the same time. Native from Mexico to South America. Passiflora coccinea : PASSIFLORACEAE, (Red Passionflower). Red passionflowers in late summer and fall. Vigorous tendrilled vines may reach 20 feet long in a season. Marginally hardy here. Zones 8b-11.
Passiflora coriacea, (Bat-Wing Passionflower). Leathery leaf with a stem through the middle, to 8" long by 2" wide. Small, yellow passionflowers. Grown for its interesting foliage. Tender here. Zones 9-11.

Passiflora platyloba, (Platyloba Passionflower). Large leaves, glossy, light green. Summer-bloomer with drooping flowers in hop-like bracts. Very fragrant. Grows to 8 feet or more in a season; ultimate size unknown. Zones 9-11.
Passiflora quadrangularis, (Giant Granadilla). Four-angled stems hold large ovate leaves. Vigorous vines easily grow 20 feet in a season. Cultivated for centuries in tropical America for its large, edible fruit. Flowers are 3 inches wide, multicolored in pink, blue, and violet. Hardiness and native origin uncertain. Zones 10-11.
Podranea Ricasoliana : BIGNONIACEAE, (Pink Trumpet Vine). Showy vine with large, lilac-pink flowers through the summer. Pinnate leaves are light green. Prefers sun and rich soil. South Africa. Zones 9-11.
Quisqualis indica : COMBRETACEAE, (Rangoon Creeper). Climbing vine with fragrant white flowers which age to pink, in drooping, terminal spikes. Leaves to 5 inches long. Native from Burma to New Guinea. Hardy, with protection, for several years in Baton Rouge, LA. Zones 8b-11.
Rosa banksiae 'Alba Plena' : ROSACEAE, (Double White Lady Banks' Rose). Thornless rose with double white button flowers in early spring. Zones 8-10.

Senecio confusus : ASTERACEAE. (Mexican Flame Vine). Herbaceous twining vine with intense scarlet-orange daisies along the stems, for you and the butterflies. Constantly in flower here. Likes sun and a rich, moist soil. Hardy here at 15° F; tender at 7° F. Zones 8b-11.
