NEWS LETTER

VOLUME XXXIX

WELCOME TO 2000

We made it with no major catastrophes despite the media predictions. Computers are still running, the equipment is still running, and were still running. I hope everyone had a great holiday season. My family and I sure did, but Am glad it is over. The year 2000 hopefully will be a great year for everyone.

NINE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Today, February 1, AUDIO VISION has been on the air for nine years. We have all of you to thank for making this service a main stay for the Inland Empire. To celebrate, AUDIO VISION will be having an open house on Friday, February 18, from 10:00 to 3:00 P.M. We will be hosting as many as 70 visitors throughout the day. It would be great if some of you could come by and visit with some of our guests.

SEES CANDY

The Sees Candy fundraiser was a success. It just keeps getting better and better each year. We sold just over 500 pounds and made over $500.00 for AUDIO VISION. I will not have exact figures until some time next month. I would like to thank everyones help for the Sees Candy sells. Some of you bought for friends and neighbors, and we appreciate it very much. Bob Tellefson, once again, sold just about 200 pounds through his fellow Yucaipa Rotarians. Pat Oknesky moved much candy out via the San Bernardino Emblem Club. Donna Wooley was the candy lady for her neighborhood. Julie Conthron kept her husbands business well supplied this year. Thanks again for all of your help. From one box to many boxes, every bit helps.

AUDIO VISION SAYS GOOD BYE TO SOME DEAR FRIENDS

AUDIO VISION has been privileged to have many volunteers throughout the years. Everyone who volunteers is special. Once in a while though, you get an unusually dedicated person who becomes a volunteer. Hilda Martin and Bob Mott. Both of these volunteers have been reading for us for more than seven and eight years respectively. Bob and Hilda, over the past few months, have died. Bob died Monday, November 22, 1999, and Hilda died January 12, 2000. Bob Mott was a dedicated volunteer and a good friend. After years of declining health from a stroke which left him partially paralyzed, he kept coming up the stairs to read at the old place, and it was a work out just to get up the stairs. Hilda Martin did not drive. She was a regular reader, never late, and always got here via the dial a ride service. When Hilda started volunteering for AUDIO VISION, she was 82 years old. There was no slowing either of these people down. I will also miss their friendship.

PARKING

Im sorry about the parking situation here at the studio. We have no control over it. The new rule is for you to park in the spots, which I think there are only two of them, marked C (thats our suite number). The parking slots in front of the buildings are the marked ones. You can park on the other side of the lot anywhere. They are not marked. Sorry for this inconvenience. If theres any questions, let us know.

E-MAIL

Several volunteers have e-mail. If you have an e-mail account, would you please e-mail me at [email protected]. This way I can have your e-mail on file. Thanks.
