GOLF
TOURNAMENT
AUDIO VISION is having its first
annual golf tournament fund raiser at the Yucaipa Golf club, which hopes to be a very
successful fund raiser for us. The golf
committee consists of Bruce Finucan, Dean Spencer, Jim Drabinski, and Tom Rash. Attached to this newsletter is a golf flier. Please share it with anyone you know who might be
interested in being a golfer, donating a prize to be raffled off, or sponsoring a Tee. If your interested yourself or know anyone who is,
we need some volunteers on the course the day of the tournament. Please let me know if you can help. We'll see some of you at the tournament on the
18th of June.
AUDIO VISION has been broadcasting for more than 10 years now. Because of all you volunteers AUDIO VISION has
been a success. Please come to the volunteer
appreciation party and meet all of your peers who make AUDIO VISION great.

Directions from Freeway: Get off at Yucaipa Oakglen exit. Go east on Yucaipa Blvd. to Second St. and turn
left. Second St. to Cedar and make a left. 4th house down on the right.
I don't have to tell anyone who has been here through the summer
how hot those studios can get. In addition to
it just being hot, our land lord is not very quick on repairing their own air conditioner,
so along with the hot days coming, we have a poor working air conditioner. For those of you who's studio time is in the
afternoon, would you please consider switching your time to an available morning hour. I know for some of you this is not possible. Since we are automated in the afternoon, this will
help with the hot afternoons. We can also
record some of you Saturday and Sunday mornings. Let
Tom or Tim know if this works for any of you.
For those of you volunteers who are
doing recordings and coming in from outside of town and the gas crunch is especially felt,
if you'd like to arrange a schedule of coming in every other week, we may be able to do
this. If you're doing a weekly program, you
would have to stay for two hours to do 2 one hour episodes.
For those of you doing books, you could get by with just one recording every other
week. If this is something you want to plan
for, talk to Tom or Tim.
Many of our volunteers have been with
us for several years. A few since we started
10 years ago. For some of you who are
relatively new, here's a little background on how we got started and how we exist. In 1989, a friend of mine was visiting from San
Francisco. He told me about a radio reading
service up there. I liked what I heard about
the service and wanted to get a radio for myself. I
found out there was no such service in this area, so with a few people, we decided to
start our own. One thing led to another and
here we are today. AUDIO VISION is not
government funded at all. Nor are we part of
a larger organization for the blind. I only
point this out, because some of you may know of people who are in a position to help. We are a 501(c)3 tax exempt corporation. If you know of any businesses or individuals who
would like to make a tax deductible contribution to keep us going, please let me know or
have them call. We need anyone and everyone's
help.
We would like to thank KVCR FM for their generosity of allowing AUDIO VISION to use their sub-carrier. KVCR FM, at no charge to us, allows us to use a piece of their signal, which is how our broadcast is carried to all of our listeners throughout Southern California. Without KVCR FM's generous donation of their sub-carrier, it would easily cost AUDIO VISION several thousands of dollars each year to get our signal out to our audience.
We would
just like to thank them for the new contract agreement.
