SUMMER FUN
I would like to thank everyone who kicked off the summer by coming to the AUDIO VISION volunteer appreciation party at my house last June. We had a great time, and I know some of you got to meet some of the other wonderful volunteers at AUDIO VISION. We had well over 40 people, and we look forward to doing it again next year. Now lets get ready for the millenium.
ITS THAT TIME AGAIN
I hate to acknowledge it, but the end of the millenium is coming and with the holiday season right around the corner its time to start thinking about all of that candy. Well be accepting orders for Sees Candy again. Please take an order form to your home, place of business, or social group. I dont have to tell you how good Sees Candy is, or how expensive it is at the candy store. This year we are selling Sees Candy for $9.00 per pound. Delivery dates are tentatively set for December 10 for Christmas. If we get enough orders for Thanks Giving, we could have an additional delivery date of November 22. This is a great fundraiser for AUDIO VISION, so be sure and tell your friends to shop at AUDIO VISION for sweets this year. You will find the order forms on the cookie counter. Make checks payable to AUDIO VISION, and thank you for supporting AUDIO VISION.
COMPUTER PROJECT
Just an update on the computer project. Were still planning on installing computers in the studios. The project has been pushed back due to finances. Possibly within the next six months we may be closer to actually doing this. It will be an investment of approximately $13,000.00, so you can well imagine the planning and care to this project. Soon, we are planning a trip to Utah to take a look at the computer system in work at a radio station being run by another blind person. After seeing how accessible these computers are for blind people, well be even closer to actually moving on this project. In the mean time, for those of you who have computers, be sure and check out AUDIO VISIONs web site at http://business.fortunecity.com/marshalls/268. Give us your opinions of our web site. Wed like to see you in cyber space. AUDIO VISION also has an e-mail address. It is: [email protected].
BOOK FUND
If you would like to contribute to the AUDIO VISION book fund, drop off used books at AUDIO VISION and browse through the donated books and take one for a donation. Just drop a donation of any amount into the book fund jar. Thanks for your participation.
NEW PROJECT
As most of you already know, our youngest son, Keith is blind due to retinal dysplasia. My wife, Veronica Rash, and our friend Christine Jeune, parent of a blind child and author of the AUDIO VISION web page, have started Parents of Blind Visually Impaired Children, PBVIC. Its a support group for parents of visually impaired children. Also we hope to incorporate field trips and a recreational facility for the blind youth. AUDIO VISION is the unofficial sponsor of this new venture. We meet monthly at AUDIO VISION on the first Tuesday of each month. If you know of a family that might be interested in joining us, please call Veronica Rash at 790-2658 or Christine Jeune at 797-2145 or AUDIO VISION at 797-4336.
