“As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be
at the coming of the Son of Man.
For in the days before the flood, people were
eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah
entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the
flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming
of the Son of Man.” (Matthew.24:37-39)
Noah was an endtimes believer. He lived in the last days before the flood. He was an endtimes guy. He was an endtimes believer just like you and I are endtimes believers, but not in the sense that there will be a flood to destroy the earth, but in this case the Bible says a fire will destroy the earth. Noah lived in the last days before the flood. You and I live in the last days before the fire that will come at the end of the Day of the Lord, when the world say be burned away.
Now listen to what Peter has to say; Peter says this: “ First
of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing
and following their own evil desires.
They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised?
Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning
of creation." (2Peter 3:3-4) Peter says in the last days, which
I believe we are living, scoffers will say “you guys have been talking
about the second coming and judgment forever. Where is this so called promise
of His coming? As things continue on as they always have.” They will continue
to scoff and mock at you and me. By this Peter says: “
But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed
and the earth was formed out of water and by water.
By these waters also the world of that time was
deluged and destroyed.” Peter is alluding to the flood. He says
people are ignorant today, in these last days in which we live, scoffing
and mocking, just like they were back when Noah was warning of the end
that was about to happen. They scoffed and they mocked and they said ;
“Come on a Flood? Rain falling from Heaven.” ( Keep in mine that it had
never rained before that time.) There was no rain on earth. They thought
the idea of rain falling from Heaven was just a crazy idea as people being
raptured in the sky. To them it made no sense. Peter says just as the people
were scoffing and mocking in the days before the flood, so will it be in
the last times too. They are not going to believe the message we share.
Peter the goes on to say: “ By the same word the present heavens and
earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction
of ungodly men.
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day
is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” So
these people that say : Where is the promise of His coming and what’s really
happening, that everything is the same as it’s always been”, don’t really
understand the Lord’s time economy. It’s a whole different deal.
The Lord hasn’t delayed His coming, as some say. “Behold I come quickly.” He uttered those words 2 thousand years ago. People say that’s a long time, but wait a minute, in the Lords time economy, it’s only been two days.
Peter goes on to say: “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.” We too are living in the end times. Just like they were scoffing and mocking in Noah’s time. “ No way are you going up in the sky! No way is the world going to be destroyed by fire! But Peter says it’s going to happen!
We live in days that are likened unto Noah’s days, not only by Peter, but also by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In Matthew chapter 24 Jesus had this to say about the endtimes, the last days. He talked about this idea that the final generation would see the blossoming of the fig tree, (through out the scriptures the fig tree is a symbol of the nation Israel.), will be the generation that does not pass away. And I believe firmly that He is referring to our generation. On May 14,1948, Israel came back into being. It blossomed. It became a nation again after not having an identity , that is a homeland, for almost two thousand years. Suddenly in 1948 it blossomed. I believe that this is a key component to understanding where we are as it relates to Bible Prophecy. I believe we are that generation that has seen the blossoming of the fig tree. I believe that we are the generation that is going to see the rapture of the Church.
Jesus then says in verse 36 of that exact day and hour knows no man, not the angels in heaven, but my father only. But He says this in verse 37: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” Wow! Did you catch that? Jesus is saying that the coming of the Son of Man is going to be just like it was in the days of Noah. He makes the same correlation that Peter made in 2 Peter chapter 3. There’s going to be a parallel between Noah and the Day of Judgment. Now Jesus says this , think with me now, in the days of Noah people were going around eating and drinking, marrying, the Dow Jones was soaring, the economy was blossoming, people were going along “ honkey dory”. Just what they are saying and doing in our day. Fred, we’ve heard you talk about the Rapture, the appearance of this guy called Antichrist , the One World government, but I read USA Today, I watch CNN and things seem to be going pretty good. Inflation is non-existent, unemployment is down. People are feeling pretty good about the nation. We are eating , drinking, going out for dinner, we see our kids get married or what ever. You see, that’s just what Jesus said they were saying in the days of Noah. Peter and Jesus both tell us that’s the way it’s going to be right before the coming of the Son of Man. We are living in the last days. This is what I want you to understand that just because things appear to be going “honkey dory” that underneath the surface we have some real problems, as did Noah’s time. There was a real sickness in the culture and these things are outlined in Genesis chapter 6.
Just as it was in the days of Noah and when we take a look at our culture today we say “ UT OH!” Everything wasn’t honkey dory. There were some real problems.
First of all, #1, it says in verse 1, “ It came to pass that when men began to multiply on the face of the earth.” The first thing to happen in Noah’s day ,as it is happening in our day, is a Population Explosion . In chapter 5 of Genesis we have the genealogy of Adam to Noah. And when you read this you realize that people back then lived a very long time. In fact, did you know that Adam was a contemporary of Methuselah, and Methuselah was a contemporary of Noah. So you have from Adam- Methuselah - Noah, that spans the entire human history up to this time. In fact if you work up the genealogy of chapter 5 and 10 you begin to see that Noah was a contemporary of Abraham. These people lived a long time. Some lived to be 900 years old. Then you factor in demography and you have a population explosion. Now think with me, if a man has 4 kids and lives to see his kids have kids that in 5 generations the population of that little clan would be 96. In 10 generations the population would soar to 3,070. In 20 generations the population then goes to 3,120,000. In 30 generations 3,220,000,000. This is of course taking in account that a generation is 40 years. We are talking about a world that was more crowed perhaps than our world is presently.
We are going through our own population growth at this time. From the time of Noah got off the ark to 1867 the population of the world reached 1,000,000,000. It took longer to reach this figure because of wars, plagues and men no longer live to be 900 years old.
Then it started taking less time for the population to grow, from 1867- 1935 , less than 100 years, the population of the world reached 2 billion. Then in 30 more years, 1935-1965, 3 billion. Then in 30 more years, 1965-1995, over 6 billion. It doubled in only 30 years. And now we are told that the population will double every 15 years. The population is exploding and as a result 15 million starved to death last year.
In recent sociolgical studies, they studied the effects of over population. They took rats and put them in tight quarters. They notice 2 things happened. First, the rats bore young, then they neglected the baby rats. Second, the rats started turning on each other, even though there was an adequate food supply. The close quarters caused them to turn on each other, much like life in New York City.
The second problem of Noah’s time was Sexual Immorality. the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal ; his days will be a hundred and twenty years." The Nephilim were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.” There are two schools of thought of this issue. Some Bible teachers teach that the “Sons of God” were descendents from the line of Seth( of God) and that the daughters of men were the descendents of Cain. ( ungodly). In other words you had godly men marrying ungodly women. The problem is how would that produce giants. Today if a Christian marries a non Christian, the kids are not giants.
I believe this, that the Sons of God are the B’nai Elohim, which means Angels of God, direct creations of God. There are two types of Angels. Exhaulted Angels, ( angels surrounding God) and Fallen Angels ( demons). These fallen angels or demons had sexual relations with women and the offspring were the Nephlilim., men of renown. We do know that angels can appear in human form. See Jude verse 6 where he talks about the angels that sinned. “And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home--these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.” Satan knew that the promised redeemer would come from the seed of woman , Genesis 3:15, “ And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." It was his plan to prevent the redeemer by poisoning the line by having his demons interact with the woman. He attempted to poison the gene pool.
We live in a day of bizarre sexual behavior. Recent Gallop polls indicate that 65% of girls at age 16 admit they are not virgins. Pornography is at an all time high. Kiddy porn is rising. The largest industry in the United States in the entertainment. The fastest growing part of the entertainment industry is hard core pornography. 70% of Americans admit to viewing this . The fastest growing percent of porn films are called “Snuff Films”, where they film a man having sex with a woman , then actually killing her on film.
The third problem in Noah’s time was the “wickedness of men.” Verse 5, “The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.” Thoughts of wickedness, evil imagination. Images in the mind, just plain evil thoughts. Today look at the images on our TV screens, violence, sex, all on prime time. Thirty years ago we would have been out raged. But today we think nothing about it.
The fourth problem was the earth was filled with violence, verse 13, “So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.” Violence was accepted , exhalted and practiced. Today “joy killings “ are on the rise. Domestic violence is increasing. Murders are being committed by teenagers and younger. The coming generation is producing more sociopaths than ever before.
Yes, things are good today, but it what’s underlying in our culture. We are just like Noah’s day, eating drinking, marrying etc. The economy is cruising. But God thought humanity was sick and in need repentance . They would repent, so judgment came.
Jesus spoke of these things in literal terms. If Jesus say the took
place then they did. .Destroy the body and in 3 days I will rise. The tomb
was empty. Jesus is s who he claimed do be. Sin causes repercussions. Sin
always brings suffering. The flood teaches us this lesson. Don’t believe
everything is good.. We are at the end and the good ship Salvation is here
and ready to set sail. Get on board as the world is about to go through
a real catastrophe.
