The Gift Of Salvation

God offers us salvation through Jesus, and through Jesus Christ only. We cannot make our way to heaven through our own merits (called works), nor through any sort of man-made programs. The following Scriptures will show you thoroughly the meaning of salvation.

God wants us to be sure of our salvation...

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." - 1 John 5:11-13

You can know the Son of God personally...

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." - John 3:16-17

Now, what causes separation from God?

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:23

In this verse we see Satan (the thief) and Jesus the Son in a brief comparison. Which would you like to follow?

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." - John 10:10

Jesus, when He left this earth and ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven, promised that He would return for His children...

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." - John 14:3

Now, you may be asking, "why" must I be saved to begin with...

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23

Well, can't I go to heaven by being a "good person"?

"Salvation is (italics mine) "Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephesians 2:9
"The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ." Romans 6:23.
You see, you cannot possibly earn the right to go to heaven. It is a gift from God that was paid for by Jesus on the cross of calvary.

So, how do I receive salvation? Let's look at that question for a moment.

Jesus, when speaking to His disciple Thomas said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." - John 14:6

So "what" qualified Jesus to make such a statement? Let's look at two verses that definitely qualify Him as the only person through whom you can receive true salvation...

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - John 1:1
and...
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." - John 1:14

You see, in the beginning of creation, God had the Word (Jesus), and the Word became flesh (His birth), and He "dwelt among us" (He walked with mankind). Jesus is not a "created being" as some religions claim, He was truely the Son of God who was there with God the Father at creation; who was with Israel in the wilderness; who was with Daniel in the lion's den; and who died on the cross of calvary for the sins of every human being from Adam to the last child to ever be born in the future.

You mean to tell me that Jesus died for my sins? YES!!!

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit." - 1 Peter 3:18

"Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." - Romans 4:25

So, what happens if I accept Jesus as my Savior and make Him the Lord of my life?

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." - John 1:12

This does not mean that you will be like God, all knowing and all seeing, since that was part of the original lie of Satan in the Garden of Eden (see Genesis 3:5); but you will receive eternal life and spend eternity in His presence.

So, how do I receive this gift from God called salvation?

"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." - Acts 3:19

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." - Ephesians 2:8

"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." - James 2:19

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:9-13

"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." - John 10:32-33

Okay...what about after I receive Jesus?

"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized; and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." - Acts 2:41

See...you cannot possibly earn salvation to heaven. It is not by works, or by doing good deeds, but only through belief in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ!!! Are you prepared to accept Him as your Savior and let Him be Lord of your life? If so, then simply clear your heart of all previous sins by saying this simple prayer....

Lord Jesus, please hear my prayer.
Forgive me of all the sins I've done throughout my life.
I understand through the Scriptures that I cannot possibly earn my way to heaven,
and it is only through belief in You that I can obstain salvation.
I acknowledge you as the true Son of the living God, and believe that you
died for my sins.
Please come into my heart, and please become the Lord of my life.
Thank you Lord Jesus....thank you. Amen

If you have prayed this prayer tonight, we want to welcome you to the family of God. You have a new life in Christ Jesus, and the things that you have done in the past are forgiven. Now, find yourself a good, Bible-believing church. One that preaches and lives by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Grow in the knowledge of His truth, and enjoy the fact that you now have eternal life!

If you did not pray this prayer, and do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, please consider what it will be like to spend eternity separated from God, alone, and in everlasting torment. This is not to scare you into salvation. That is not my intent! It is a fact, and you have the choice....only you!!!
