Terran
When you play Starcraft, it is recommended that you start out as Terran. Terran is the species that is closest related to us humans, and is easy to start with. Their units are mostly all mechanical and are run by human-like people. If you are a beginner (or even if you are a Starcraft master) Terran will be perfect for you.
What make Terran unique are 4 key features:
- When you make a building, SCVs have to continue to build the structure until it is complete. Once they have finished building the structure, then they can perform other tasks that you command them to do.
- SCVs have the ability to repair damaged units or structures (if you have enough minerals). This is a lot cheaper than building a new unit/structure. It is very good for structures becuase if a structure gets damamged and its HP is in the red (the last 1/3 of its HP) it will be on fire and continue to lose HP until it is completely destroyed, or until it is repaired and brought out of the red.
- Some Terran units have the ability to cloak themselves. To cloak a unit you must have enough energy to be able to cloak yourself, and then you choose the Cloak option. This temporarily makes the unit invisible. The unit become uncloaked when you command it to uncloak itself, or when you run completely out of energy. Enemy units can see your cloaked units only if they have a detector in range.
- Most Terran structures have the ability to lift off and move/land anywhere you tell them to. This is useful if you want to relocate your base, or if enemy units that can only attack ground (such as Zerglings) start attacking your base.
These 4 key features can be very useful and if you master these techniques you will be prepared for almost any battle.
Now that you have learned some basics of Terran you are ready to understand, in more detail, about Ground Units, Air Units, and Structures
