Zerg

When you play Starcraft, it is recommended (but not required) that you complete all of the Terran missions. The Zerg race is completely biological, rely on lots of cheap units (rather than a couple powerful units), and are a bit harder to learnand understand than Terran. Zerg also have many different features, compared to Terran and Protoss, but in the end you'll have a biological bonanza of deadly units!

The Zerg race has 4 major differences from the other 2 races. They are:

  1. You build all units at one place: Hatchery (or Lair, and Hive if evolved). You see, the Hatchery continually produces Larva (maximum at one time per Hatchery is 3), and Larva can morph into other units. Also, Drones do not "build" structures, rather they morph into them. Therefore you lose a Drone once you build a Zerg structure. A good rule with this is to always keep one extra Drone available just in case.
  2. Like the Terrans, Zerg units and structures can be repaired, however it is not like the Terrans way. Zerg units and structures are all biological, and therefore they repair themselvees automatically every time. For example, an Evolution Chamber with 5HP left can restore itself automatically back to 750HP over time. This can be an advantage and disadvantage for the Zerg though.
  3. Most Zerg units have the ability to Burrow. This makes the unit dig underground and stay there until otherwise directed to Unburrow. This can be a very useful surprise for enemy attackers when they find it is a lot more Hydros then they can see (for example).
  4. All Zerg structures must be build on a pinkish purple carpet of biomatter, or commonly known as Creep. All Zerg structures are in fact giant organs, and need nourishment which the Creep provides. There is an acception though. Hatcheries can be build anywhere...Creep or no Creep. Also Extractors don't need to be build on Creep, but on a Vespene Geyser.

The previous 4 features of the Zerg must be understood thuroughly in order to understand Zergs alone. Once you understand them, you can learn more about Zerg Ground Units, Zerg Air Units, and Zerg Structures
