I have received recognition for multiple projects that required meeting difficult timelines and circumstances. I have been working with computer systems since IBM introduced their first PC in 1981.

Accomplishments

CONVERTING INDUSTRY - 1985/95
Graphic Packaging Corporation: Plant Engineer
2006 Liberty Ave. - Lawrenceburg, TN 38464 - Phone: 931/762-6486

As Plant Engineer at Graphic Packaging I was part of a dynamic team that grew the facilty from a 40+ person, $12MM operation to a 400+ person, $100MM operation over a period of six years. I "wore many hats" and was involved in all phases of plant operation. A partial list of accomplishments include the following:

Accomplishments
  • Reduced average annual equipment downtime 3.5 percent, resulting in a positive $300,000 to the bottom line while meeting the departmental goal to reduce overtime by 10%.
  • Increased the production capacity of printing operation by 26% by analyzing trends in order to identify "bottlenecks" and initiating action to eliminate them. Dampers, ducting, incineration are some of the projects completed.
  • Eliminated need for hazardous material disposal by upgrading catalytic material used in existing systems. The result was a $40,000 dollar decrease in operating costs
  • Managed/Supervised a $44 million plant expansion until a full-time construction manager could be placed.
  • Doubled the facility's high speed gluing capacity by coordinating the "Fast Track" installation of three new lines plus the relocation of the existing equipment. Urgency due to a new high volume product opportunity which resulted in a $25 million (30 percent) increase in sales volume.
  • Designed and implemented environmental complaince plan. Required due to VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions. Established BACT (best available control technology) for Tennessee.
  • Developed, as part of a team, the first flame sealing process for poly to board bond. This eliminated the cost and mess associated with applying a glue bond.
  • Supervised construction of $500,000 office expansion which was completed on schedule and under budget. Our facility received the Community Pride Award.
  • Maintained computer systems until an IS professional could be justified. Included 100+ PC's, AS400 System, Novell Networking, and others.
  • Initiated and maintained document systems, which included all tech docs, drawings, capital planning, and others. Established project priorities.
  • Managed 27 person multicraft maintenance department supporting 24Hr/7 day per week production operations and all facilities. Provided all cad resources for plant.
  • Provided technical expertise as R & D Test coordinator to develop new products and processes. Quality and efficiency improvements realized in all departments.
  • More accomplishments could be listed, vibrations analysis, work order systems, safety and environmental issues, and others.

METALS INDUSTRY - 1978/85
ARCO Metals: Project Engineer
Henderson, KY

As a Project Engineer at ARCO Metals I managed projects (capital and expense) from conception to successful completion. This included defining project, estimating, obtaining funds, evaluation of vendors, contractors, equipment reviewing, approving bid packages, drawings, specifications, maintaining project cost control, acting as liaison between company and contractor, and interfacing with all plant departments.

Accomplishments
  • Improved billet sawing up-time over 20 percent by defining, justifying, purchasing and installing automatic billet palletizing system. This included replacing relay logic control with programmable logic control.
  • Provided as part of team the expertise required to install and set up casting station for 16" billet which was a new product for the facility.
  • More projects/accomplishments can be discussed. Self erecting 100 Ton Crane, Pnumatic elavators, Upenders, Oil Waste Facility, landfill management, and others.
