The scene has place in 1860, when Italy was divided in more States.....
During the occupation of a part of Vatican State by Tiber's Hunters , a Tuscany volunteers corps faithful to the King Vittorio Emanuele II, lead by Colonel Luigi Masi, some stamps of Provisional Governement of Tuscany's Granduchy were used to send mail, instead than Vatican State stamps.
These stamps were cancelled using the Vatican postmark, because it was the only available at local post-offices .
Occupation, which aim was to conquer Rome city, started 8 September 1860, but unfortunately, on 20 of October Colonel Masi and his troops had to withdraw. It's normal that these stamps have a extra-extra value.
